The Experimental Marine Ecology Laboratory (EMEL) within the Department of Biological Sciences at the National University of Singapore is seeking to appoint two Research Assistants to work on a major new project “Shore Protection with Integrated Nature-based Solutions—Eco (SPINS-Eco)”. This interdisciplinary research aims to determine the optimal conditions for mangrove, seagrass, coral, and macroalgal establishment and growth within hybrid coastal protection systems in Singapore.

The main responsibilities of the position include:
• Assist in designing and executing protocols to quantify biophysical conditions of both modified and natural tropical coastal habitats
• Carry out intertidal and subtidal biodiversity surveys
• Conduct growth and stress experiments
• Coordinate with sister projects: “SPINS-Hydro” and “SPINS-Meta”
• Prepare research manuscripts, reports, and presentations

Qualifications

Applicants should have completed a bachelor’s degree in life sciences, marine biology, ecology, geography, environmental studies, or other similar discipline. The M3S project is driven by the goal of investigating the nature of work, redefining our relationship with technology, and exploring how institutions can adapt to foster livability, sustainability, innovation, and social welfare.

The Postdoctoral Associate is in the T4 project for the five-year M3S program in SMART. The SMART team seeks to advance the frontier of AI research, apply it to society and cities, and demonstrate the concrete social impacts of the AI algorithms with broad public acceptance in Singapore.

Specifically, the SMART-T4 project seeks to integrate the state-of-the-art AI and the classical dynamic behavioral models to maximize the growth of human capital. It creates novel theories and develops an AI-assisted system to recommend long-term career decisions and short-term spatiotemporal activity decision in cities. It facilitates individual decisions around education and skill training to support Singaporeans’ lifelong learning, including both cognitive and physical skills. • Provide overall support to the Technical Department on developing business analytical processes and data analysis tools as assigned by supervisors and /or Technical Director.
• Overall responsible for all Support Ticketing program (ITMS) raised by vessels and shore end-users related to Fleet Systems team. Ensure the escalation of the tickets into Third party vendors ticketing Monitor all tickets status, analyze the tickets to identify permanent solutions to reduce this errors / failure. All Fleet Systems tickets to be assigned and resolved in a timely manner with a certain Quality of Service.
• Responsible to follow up escalated tickets with ERP / Software vendors on a regular basis. Evaluate vendor Quality of Service (QoS) and track their performance. Set up regular meetings with vendors to discuss the quality of service towards improvements.
• Participate in the bi-annual Management Review Meeting (MRM) to showcase the Fleet Systems achievements, progress report, future roadmaps, analysis of ITMS tickets.
• Creating and overseeing protocols and procedures for the use of any new software applications.
• Collaborate with L&D team to develop ERP training material for shore and vessels.
• Provide ERP technical support and training to shore Technical ERP end-users.
• Support vessels onboard ship staff familiarization training & subsequent refresher training, as and when required.
• Support Corporate IT team as and when required to perform diagnostic tests and resolving issues to optimize performance, latency issues, data sync between shore / vessel, and other various troubleshooting.
• Assist and collaborate with Corporate IT & Vessel IT teams in User Profiles creation, Technical ERP applications configuration settings, interfacing with other company ERP systems, writing customized programs and scripts if required.
• Adhering to company policies and industry regulations.
• Keeping abreast of the latest Technical ERP upgrades and offerings.
• Any other tasks that may be assigned by Supervisors / Technical Director towards ERP projects, development, implementation, user testing across shore and vessel teams.

Requirements:

• Experience in Maritime industry related to technical support on Ethylene and LPG vessels for Technical ERP development.
• Good maritime technical operations knowledge
• Degree in Information Technology or similar discipline.
• 2 years of ERP Business systems support or consultancy experience.
• Proficient in computer software applications and good Microsoft Office knowledge. Experience in PowerBI / SQL is an advantage.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English language with all levels of staff and work independently in a fast-paced environment under tight timelines.
• Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
