Meranti Power Pte. Ltd., a fully owned subsidiary of Energy Market Authority, is establishing an Operations Department to operate two open cycle gas turbines at our power generation station.

We are inviting applicants for the position of Operations Manager/Executive, who shall report to Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for the smooth running of the entire operations of power plants. The Operations Manager/Executive shall assume the following:

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for setting up an effective and efficient Operations Department.
• Responsible for managing and operating the power plant in a safe, efficient and timely manner in accordance with operational guidelines, regulatory requirements and the Singapore Electricity Market Rules, to meet power plant generation output requirements.
• Managing a group of shift charge engineers and operations personnel such as technical officers and/or technicians.
• Implement strategies and action plans to ensure that the power plant supports corporate strategic initiatives.
• Establish group and individual accountabilities for operations problem solving and cost management. Encourage use of new techniques and focus on fact-based problem solving.
• As a key member of the management team; assess and address issues to identify and implement improvements towards efficient and effective operations.
• Review plant production reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas of improvement.
• Establish and implement department wide policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with management team, technical and operations staff members as necessary.
• Develop operational policies, standards and procedures for the operations of the power plant.
• Set operations technical goals within broad outlines provided by top management.
• Perform managerial functions such as reviewing and writing management reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services.
• Communicate with management and operations personnel to develop standard operating procedures.
• Keep abreast of technical and operations developments in relations to the power plant.

• Manage Permit to Work System (Issue Permit)
• Observe safety policy and participate in safety audit
• Lead Fire-fighting Team
• Lead Plant Emergency Response Team

Requirements:

• Education in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 5 years’ of relevant experience in a power plant
• Strong knowledge and proven track record in similar experience in a power plant
• Good knowledge of regulatory requirements for operating power plants and the Singapore Electricity Market Rules.
• Excellent working knowledge and technical expertise in operations management
• Excellent leadership and management of staff skills
• Effective communication, innovative and excellent problem solver
• Ability to develop staff skills and competencies.
• Work location is in Jurong Island (Transport to and from Jurong East MRT and other locations is provided)

[What you will be working on]

You will be part of Ngee Ann Polytechnic Finance team to drive and lead automation and process improvement projects and revamp the Finance intranet.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Understand and identify opportunities to leverage on analytics and technology to automate/streamline processes.

• Plan, design, and develop automated processes using tools such as VBA, Python, UiPath and  Power Automate.

• Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address challenges that may arise during the planning, implementation, and maintenance of automated systems.

• Plan, design and revamp the Finance intranet. 

• Deliver training and assistance to teams for the adoption of new automated processes and systems.

• Assist in other ad hoc projects and finance duties as assigned.

You may be rotated to other sections in the Finance Office.

[What we are looking for]

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is required.

• Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience in in Automation, AI, Engineering, or Data-related roles.

• Proficient in Excel, VBA, Outlook Macro, Python/R Studio, UiPath Studio, Power BI.

• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

• Positive attitude, continuous learner, self-motivated and meticulous.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.

• A team player who is able work independently.

• Knowledge of best practices and techniques for implementing automation to streamline finance and administrative processes is an added advantage.

Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for tasks such as daily reports, AP, AR, posting and reconciliation of customers settlements, update of cash book and prepare monthly bank reconciliation.
• Responsible for month end closing and preparation of monthly management accounts including Balance Sheet schedules.
• Prepare quarterly GST submission.
• Preparation of audit schedules, coordinate and answer to audit queries.
• Liaise with financial institutions, creditors, suppliers, company secretary, tax agents and any other third party, as required.
• Any ad hoc duties as assigned from time to time.

Job Requirements:

· Diploma/Degree of Finance/Accountancy/Business Administration.

· Preferred at least 1 year of relevant work experience, fresh graduates are welcome.

· Experience in medical industry is preferred.

· Proficient in MS Office applications.

· Quickbooks Online/Xero accounting software knowledge is a plus.

· Self-motivated and be prepared to take on challenges.

· Able to work independently as well as working in a team, meticulous, with a positive attitude.
