MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Responsible for the safe/efficient operation and maintenance of all machinery and electrical equipment onboard vessel operating in Singapore waters and in International waters. Supervision of all Engineering Officers and Engine Ratings (via the Second Engineer). Adhering to budgets and purchasing procedures of the Company. Vessels Cargo System Specific Responsibility

The Chief Engineer is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all the ship’s Cargo and Ballast related equipment. He is to assist the Chief Officer in the operation of the ship’s cargo equipment, keep the Chief Officer advised of any bunker, lubricating oils or sludge transfers which may affect the ship’s trim, stress and/or stability.

The Chief Engineer together with the Shipboard Management Team is also jointly responsible for:

• Adherence to, and continuous improvement of, the VMS

• Ensuring that Engineer Officers and crew are well informed of the VMS requirements generally, and specifically, where procedures affect their work

Requirements:

· Higher NITEC certificate holders with 3 – 8years experience, Diploma Holder from a reputable polytechnic plus 2-5 years’ experience or Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years’ Experience in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering

· Proficient user of Solidworks. (3D and 2D design)

· Knowledge of Orcad or other similar software will be an advantage.

· Possess an eye for details and is meticulous in the work he/she undertakes.

· Experience in Machine Design. (Semiconductor or Solar Equipment Design will be an advantage).

· Familiarity in Design Process (Feasibility Study, Conceptual Design, Design Review, Verification, Validation, etc.) up to production realization, will be an advantage.

· Knowledge of ECO release of Engineering quality documentation.

· Experience in dynamic electromechanical system design

· Experience in high vacuum design and heat transfer will be an advantage.
