MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Responsible for the safe/efficient operation and maintenance of all machinery and electrical equipment onboard vessel operating in Singapore waters and in International waters. Supervision of all Engineering Officers and Engine Ratings (via the Second Engineer). Adhering to budgets and purchasing procedures of the Company. The safeguarding of the Owners' and Company's interests at all times.

Vessels Cargo System Specific Responsibility

The Chief Engineer is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all the ship’s Cargo and Ballast related equipment. He is to assist the Chief Officer in the operation of the ship’s cargo equipment, keep the Chief Officer advised of any bunker, lubricating oils or sludge transfers which may affect the ship’s trim, stress and/or stability.

The Chief Engineer together with the Shipboard Management Team is also jointly responsible for:

• Adherence to, and continuous improvement of, the VMS

• Ensuring that Engineer Officers and crew are well informed of the VMS requirements generally, and specifically, where procedures affect their work

• Co-ordinating with Fleet Superintendent to improve overall safety, environmental and quality performance through reports, and proposals within the engine room and other areas aboard the vessel as applicable

• Ensuring that all relevant technical and machinery space regulations are onboard and made available to the personnel concerned

• Ensuring that the concept of safety and environmental excellence are fully understood and implemented by Engineer Officers onboard, through leadership and sound management practices.

• Providing coaching and training, as required, to Engine Department crewmembers

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· The Engine Department and the safety of the crew, machinery and environment directly within his control

· Acting as Ship Security Officer along with the associated duties contained in the Ship’s Security Plan (note that this role may be undertaken by the Chief Officer)

• Conduct an evaluation study on a sample product to assess LED lighting options, conduct feasibility tests for machine vision components, and evaluate image processing capabilities, either at our in-house testing lab or on-site with customers.
• Provide technical consultation on machine vision components, including lighting, lenses, cameras, and controllers, in response to inquiries.
• Collaborate with vendors or integrators of machine vision components on technical issues.
• Organize and conduct lighting seminars and training sessions for new or existing customers.
• Oversee the management of testing lab equipment and prepare demonstration loaners for customers.
• Provide technical support and project advice to the sales team.
• Inspect returned loaners for physical condition and basic functionality.
• Carry out product failure analyses and generate reports.
• Possess at least Diploma in Engineering (Electrical / Electronics / Mechanical) or equivalent.
• Knowledge in machine vision or automation will be an added advantage.

• Work across workstreams to support data requirements including reports and dashboards
• Analyze and perform data profiling to understand data patterns and discrepancies following Data Quality and Data Management processes
• Understand and follow best practices to design and develop the E2E Data Pipeline: data transformation, ingestion, processing, and surfacing of data for large-scale applications
• Understand business requirements to translate them into technical requirements that the system analysts and other technical team members can drive into the project design and delivery
• Analyze source data and perform data ingestion in both batch and real-time patterns via various methods; for example, file transfer, API, Data Streaming using Kafka and Spark Streaming
• Analyze and understand data processing and standardization requirements, develop ETL using Spark processing to transform data
• Understand data/reports and dashboards requirements, develop data export, data API, or data visualization using Power BI, Tableau, or other visualization tools

Your Background

• More than 3 years of experience in data engineering fields
• Data Engineering skills: Python and Databricks
• Preferably with working experience in AWS cloud
