Job Responsibilities:

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design of the electrical system and electrical system inspection. He/She manages a team of technical supervisors and manages the project timeline. He/She works indoors, outdoors and occasionally, in cramped spaces. He/She will have to stand for long hours, climb, bend and kneel on-site for inspection and project coordination. Description

We are looking for a senior Firmware Engineer with experience in power electronics to join us in Singapore, with opportunities to travel overseas.

In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development and testing of the firmware and embedded control algorithm for Xnergy wireless power and power conversion products. This includes various stages in a product’s life cycle such as concept/ architecture, prototyping, evaluation, production ready firmware, manufacturing, and maintenance.

You will work closely with the R&D team (hardware, firmware, and software engineers) to contribute to power converter design and shape the development of our future product strategies.

You are expected to provide theoretical knowledge and hands on skill in power electronics control and algorithm, firmware architecture, microcontrollers, power management strategies.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

1. Design and implement control algorithms and embedded firmware for high-power converters based on DSP/MCU using C/C++ programming language and model-based design methodology in line with the applied normative and standards practice.
2. Apply knowledge of CAN, SPI, USB, I2C, RS485, RS232 communication protocols to product development.
3. Plan and execute testing strategy including bench testing, validation testing, unit testing, integration testing, and system level testing.
4. Develop lab test tools, and support development of routine testing methods/systems for production systems.
5. Produce clear documentation for firmware design and test results.
6. Support identification and troubleshooting of discovered field issues, customisation requirements, create solutions, and disseminate knowledge.
7. Contribute to all phases of the firmware development life cycle including requirements analysis, architecture, design, implementation, testing, and release to ensure high quality production code.
8. Work closely with R&D team, field applications, and production teams for specifications, design, prototyping, and fabrication locally and remotely.
9. Contribute in selecting microcontrollers, schematics review, power management strategy, testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of power, digital, and analog circuit.
10. Finding root-cause and solve technical issues during new product development and product improvement as well as in field escalations.
11. Provide technical guidance and support to the software team.
12. Contribute in related technology roadmaps, features development, next generation product.
13. Plan and schedule to meet goals, deliverables, and deadlines.
14. Mentor junior engineers with an emphasis on controls.

Requirements

1. Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD degree in Electrical/Electronic/Power Electronics Engineering or Computer Science or other related field.
2. Possess minimum 3 years of relevant work experience.
3. Good understanding and strong interests in power electronics, control and stability, topologies (e.g., AC/DC, PFC, DC/DC, DC/AC, LLC and resonant converter), analog/digital circuit.
4. Solid experience with embedded software development, firmware design, real time control and implementation in microcontrollers, DSPs.
5. Good programming skills (C/C++/assembly, python) and familiar with various development platform (microcontrollers, Linux, etc.) and development tools (compilers and debuggers).
6. Strong knowledge in various industrial communication protocol and the implementation (UART, USB, SPI, I2C, RS-485, CAN, CAN-FD, ISO-15118, IEC 61851).
7. Strong practical knowledge on schematics, engineering specs, testing, troubleshooting, debugging, including familiarity with equipment (oscilloscopes, multi-meters, power supplies, etc.).
8. Familiar with good development practices including design and code reviews, testing and regression, revision control, release, and user documentation.
9. Experience with Agile development methods such as Kanban or Scrum.

Scopes & Responsibilities

• Support NPI and Site projects as Engineering Technical Lead or Subject matter experts for process equipment
• Provide technical expertise in site selection assessment to identify equipment/facility gaps, select new equipment, assess layout/utilities capacity and partner project managers to develop project cost and schedule
• Perform assessment for equipment during new product introduction, change controls and other qualifications activities to ensure equipment are in its validated state
• Subject matter expert for process equipment performance and operation to ensure safety, compliance and sustained operation
• Lead and participate in technical transfer activities and cross-functional meetings
• Work independently and/or with project managers to complete engineering projects of various scales within schedule, budget and quality constraints
• Effectively manage and work with project CQV team to ensure timely delivery of projects
• Responsible for commissioning and qualification activities including FAT, SAT, PSSR, automation checkouts, IQ, OQ, PQ, and asset/preventive maintenance/spare parts creation for new process equipment
• Participate in the system walk-down, ensure the closure of punch items and support the takeover of the system from the project team
• Work closely with project managers to introduce new equipment including development of business case, project charter, user requirement specifications, quality risk assessments, conceptual design, preliminary design, design specifications and detail design
• Participate in design review and setup up of new asset and associated maintenance plan/spares in Maximo
• Work with research, manufacturing, process development, utilities, facilities, quality assurance and validation departments in developing requirements and recommendations for large and/or highly complex system/facility modifications
• Responsible for investigation of deviations, development of corrective and preventive actions and implementation of change controls in a timely manner
• Develop, implement and optimize maintenance and reliability activities such as preventive maintenance, job plan and datasheet development in Maximo
