The Duke-NUS Cancer and Stem Cell Biology (CSCB) Programme studies the causes and treatments of cancer and related diseases. Prof Derek Hausenloy’s laboratory aims to discover new treatments for protecting the heart from acute ischaemia/reperfusion injury and for preventing heart failure. We are currently seeking a highly motivated and talented research assistant/associate to work on research focusing on identifying novel therapies for treatment of acute myeloid leukemia in the laboratory of Dr Shruti Bhatt at the NUS (http://pharmacy.nus.edu.sg/tenure-track-faculty/). The candidate will be an integral member of our research team and will work under the direct supervision of Dr Shruti Bhatt (https://pharmacy.nus.edu.sg/team/asst-prof-shruti-bhatt/) to support ongoing studies including identifying clinical response to targeted therapy in leukemia using BH3 profiling. Opportunity to perform high-throughut chemical screens on cell lines and patient-derived tumor cells. We are looking to hire someone who is interested in doing wet lab experiments. The candidate will be trained in the lab however, prior experience will be given first preference.

The main responsibilities of the position include:

a) Research tasks: 90%

• To perform cell-based assay such as apoptosis, cytoxociity, cell proliferation, immunophenotyping, BH3 profiling.
• Processing of human primary leukemia samples to isolate mononuclear cells and process for flow cytometry.
• To harvest cells, protein, RNA or DNA from animal tissues, cell lines or bacteria.

The Signature Research Programme in Health Services & Systems Research (“HSSR”) in Duke-NUS Medical School is a centre of academic excellence for research and education on the organisation, funding and delivery of health services. Project Overview

The objective of this project is to advance the field of RNA analysis by developing and implementing innovative analytical tools. These tools will be used in a comprehensive study of all forms of RNA -- the ribonucleome -- and the >170 RNA modifications -- the epitranscriptome -- in disease pathobiology, host-pathogen interactions, biomarker development, and therapeutic target discovery.

Responsibilities

The Research Engineer will plan and conduct experiments with the aim of studying the roles of RNA modifications in human immunue diseases. The candidate will work primarily on cell culture, RNA isolation, and chromatography-coupled mass spectrometry analysis. As part of this work, the candidate will prepare results for publication, be a liasion with the AMR IRG community, work with external collaborators, and develop strong experimental and communication skills.

The successful candidate will work with Prof CHEN Wei on Interface Engineering for artificial neuromorphic electronics under a project on “Interface Controlled 2D Devices and Solid-State Batteries".

This project aims to advance the field of photon-modulated organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs), with a particular focus on photon-modulated electrochemical doping systems for flexible OECTs. This research is critical for advancing OECT-based circuits in bioelectronics, wearable electronics, and artificial neuromorphic electronics (e.g., optoelectronic synapses). A postdoctoral researcher is sought to contribute to this cutting-edge research, which lies at the intersection of organic semiconductors, materials science, and electrochemistry. The successful candidate will engage in the synthesis of channel-layer materials, the investigation of photoresponsive mechanisms and interfacial electrochemical processes, as well as the development of flexible organic optoelectronic synapses for applications in physiological signal monitoring and related fields.

Qualifications / Discipline:

- The candidates shall obtain PhD or submit PhD thesis in Chemistry or Materials in a research intensive and renowned University or Research Institute. The candidate shall publish a few papers on top journals.
