Job Description

The postdoctoral fellow will work closely with Asst. Prof. Patrick Rebentrost in the intersection of quantum algorithms and optimization, machine learning and/or finance. Sample topics include quantum algorithms for problems in supervised and unsupervised machine learning, algorithmic learning theory, and online learning, and quantum algorithms for financial problems such as portfolio optimization, pricing of financial derivatives, and hedging. The job will include the development of quantum algorithms in these areas, with provable quantum advantages and provable guarantees, when possible, in fault-tolerant models of quantum computation. The job will also include the development of algorithms that are easier to execute on available hardware such as variational and post-variational methods and quantum approximate optimization. Furthermore, the aim is to provide hardware implementations on available devices, comparisons between available hardware providers, and classical simulations of the quantum algorithms. For this purpose, the successful applicant will be granted significant independence concerning their research and receive generous travel funding. They will be expected to contribute to the group, for example by co-supervising student projects and assisting with outreach activities.

Notwithstanding, the discovery of new covalent kinase and epigenetic drugs remains highly challenging, including issues related to selectivity, efficacy and acquired drug resistance. Taking cue from the kinase drug discovery field, the hypothesis of these projects is that a universal strategy for targeted covalent inhibitors (TCIs) capable of potent target inhibition and minimal acquired drug resistance is possible, if highly effective small molecules could be developed to covalently target non-cysteine (C) nucleophilic residues within/near the active-site of kinase/epigenetic proteins. Our recent discovery of covalent kinase inhibitors against BCR-ABL (a key kinase for CML) in which CBA/SA and EBA warheads formed stable, (reversible and irreversible) covalent linkage with catalytic lysine (K) in Abl kinase under cellular environments indicates other covalent chemistries are feasible. Therefore, the goal of the current proposals is to confirm covalent chemistries targeting other nucleophilic residues (E/D/R/M/etc) are possible, and amenable to the development of cell-active, selective TCIs for various therapeutic proteins.

The scope of this proposal will be limited to the fundamental basic science, and NOT the actual clinical implementation, of the developed chemical/chemical biology tools. Prof. Chan seeks a highly motivated individual to join his laboratory on Mammalian Development and Tissue Hydraulics as a postdoctoral fellow at the Mechanobiology Institute in the National University of Singapore. This position is offered under a highly interdisciplinary project that aims to understand macrophage-environment mechanochemical crosstalk during ovarian ageing.

Project Scope

The candidate will investigate the mechanobiological principles by which cell mechanics, ECM remodelling and inflammation drive fibrosis during ovarian ageing. The selected candidate will combine an ex vivo approach with advanced imaging, omics and biophysics to explore how tissue-resident macrophages respond to age-associated changes in matrix stiffness and composition, and how this in turn drives macrophage-mediated fibrosis. Job Description

The Billing & Accounts officer has the responsibility for managing day to day accounts related activity and more importantly putting in a process to manage customer billing to ensure timely billing and collections. The candidate should have some experience in managing billing for SAAS solutions and lease subscriptions.
