The successful candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary team working on the development of new biomarkers and image analysis methods for cancer diagnosis and precision medicine. His/her main responsibility is to develop and apply novel AI and ML models and methods for analyzing large multiplex tissue images and spatial transcriptomic and metabolomic data collected from cancer patients. The candidate will also perform computational algorithm implementation and benchmarking, present research findings at international conferences, and publish in high-impact scientific journals. The candidate will have the opportunity to work in a highly stimulating environment, and collaborate closely with biologists, physicians, and pathologists. We are seeking a talented and ambitious candidate to join our team in developing next-generation quantum sensors. The project focuses on creating a mesoscopic-scale "artificial atom" through superconducting levitation of a ferromagnetic particle. This levitated, freely precessing particle represents a system of correlated spins, capable of rapidly averaging quantum uncertainty. By leveraging this system, we aim to develop quantum sensors with sensitivities surpassing the standard quantum limits.

This position is based in A*STAR Quantum Innovation Centre (Q.InC). The successful candidate will contribute to a range of innovative activities, including:

Key Responsibilities:

• Development of high-performance sources to generate squeezed light.
• Characterizing the squeezed light.
• Modeling the dynamics of the levitated particle
• Microfabrication of the particle, silicon pocket, and superconducting materials
• Develop a hybrid motion tracking system integrating SQUID technology with squeezed light techniques.

Requirements:

• Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Physics, Precise Instrumentation, or related fields
• Strong motivation for multidisciplinary research
• Prior experience in superconductivity and/or quantum sensing is highly preferred
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or MATLAB

A postdoctoral research fellow position in the areas of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) for spatial omics and precision medicine is available at the Loo Lab in the Bioinformatics Institute (BII), A*STAR, Singapore. The group develops next-generation spatial omics assays, cellular phenotype analysis methods, and machine learning models to predict patient drug responses. The group also develops and manages the HistoPath Analytics (HPA) Platform and ImmunoAtlas (https://ImmunoAtlas.org) for automated management, visualization, and analysis of large multiplex tissue images and spatial multi-omics data.

The successful candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary team working on the development of new biomarkers and image analysis methods for cancer diagnosis and precision medicine. His/her main responsibility is to develop and apply novel AI and ML models and methods for analyzing large multiplex tissue images and spatial transcriptomic and metabolomic data collected from cancer patients. The candidate will also perform computational algorithm implementation and benchmarking, present research findings at international conferences, and publish in high-impact scientific journals. The candidate will have the opportunity to work in a highly stimulating environment, and collaborate closely with biologists, physicians, and pathologists. Senior candidate with relevant previous experience may also have the opportunity to plan and lead new projects.

Qualifications:

• PhD in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Molecular and Cell Biology, Cancer Biology, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Python and R programming languages.
• Strong background in AI/ML modelling, statistics, and data analysis and visualization. Experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) for image analysis and data modelling is required.
• Knowledge of molecular biology, cancer biology, and basic immunology is required.
• Previous experience in analyzing multiplex tissue images and spatial transcriptomics data is highly desirable.
• Good communication skills and fluent in both spoken and written, especially for the preparation of scientific manuscripts and reports.
• The ability to work effectively in a collaborative team setting.

This position plays a crucial role in supporting the Research Entity Head in overseeing and providing leadership on overall management and administration functions within the Research Entity. The incumbent will lead and manage the administration team by providing direction and setting objectives, ensuring internal operations and services are run efficiently within the research entity in compliance with A*STAR’s policies, procedures and guidelines.

Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the overall administration and operations of the research entity and ensure compliance with the A*STAR’s policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Engage stakeholders at all levels for alignment of established strategic plans, structures, systems and processes.
• Review and implement improvements in the research entity’s administrative structure and processes to enhance organisational effectiveness and administrative/operations excellence.
• Responsible for the research entity’s financial operations, including financial analysis, budget planning, reporting and monitoring, resource planning, asset and research grant management to ensure financial compliance and optimize budget use.

The Workplace Experience team supports the frontline operations and communications outreach across the three primary locations. The proposed manpower will be required to operate on-site services and the scope of work, but not limited to, is as follows:

• Provide on-site support various teams within organization
• Provide on-site frontline concierge service
• Provide on-site support for room and AV/IT systems management
• Support with provision of office supplies and employee indents through vending and parcel locker machines at the three primary locations when needed.
• Provide administrative and operational support for the daily topping up and up-keeping of pantries located at various floors across three primary locations.
• Manage the daily operations of the gym, including timely follow-ups on any maintenance works required to the infrastructure.
• Provide administrative support and content to drive the monthly promotion
• Provide administrative and operational support to plan, organise and conduct up to two monthly complimentary employee-related initiatives to improve employee productivity across the three buildings, such as sourcing and deployment of food trucks.
• Provide on-site wayfinding/assistance (e.g. lost-and-found) for public visitors at the Public Concierge, the proposed manpower will escalate the service requests/status enquiries/feedback to the middle office via the Employee Relationship Management System (ERMS) for case resolution
• Provide logistics and AV support for events organised within the three primary locations when needed.

Requirements:

• Diploma in Business Management or relevant discipline
