The Research Officer will work directly with a team of scientists to test and develop new assays. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring experiments are completed in a timely manner.

· Perform a variety of molecular, cellular and immunology related assays such as qPCR and ELISA.

The Research Scientist will lead a team of researchers to design, develop and validate immuno-assays on a novel diagnostic platform. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring project goals are met in a timely manner and to communicate the results to relevant stakeholders.

The Signature Research Programme in Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) aims to pioneer the development and discovery of new and more effective methods for the treatment, prevention and control of new and emerging pathogens. This position is for a full-time Senior Research Fellow position. The Laboratory of Virus Evolution (LoVE) studies rapidly evolving respiratory RNA viruses including influenza, parainfluenza and coronaviruses. Our research helps to understand the molecular drivers of virus evolution and population dynamics, and their influence on virulence and pathogenicity.

The candidate is expected to play a critical role in generating and fostering a cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research environment. The candidate should possess a strong background in molecular virology and/or immunology, and will utilize metagenomics sequencing and virologic techniques to understand the evolutionary dynamics of different RNA viruses. The candidate will be involved in developing antiviral antibody therapies in the prevention and treatment of virus disease.

The candidate is expected to perform a variety of research under the Principal Investigator’s supervision or his/her designate. The main duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following: -

• Conduct and design experiments for rapid molecular diagnosis and efficient genomic sequencing
• Perform bioinformatics and phylogenetic analyses
• Develop and test novel antiviral preventive or therapeutics against virus infections.
• Conduct in vitro and in vivo experiments to study virulence and pathogenesis.
