We are looking for a highly motivated and talented individual with a passion in cancer genomics, biology, and radiation research to join the Tan Chin Tuan Laboratory of Optical Imaging, Photodynamic, and Proton Therapy - Precision Radiation Oncology Programme (PROP). The scope of the projects conducted under the premise of PROP includes 1) early- and late-phase clinical trials; 2) cancer genomics and data science; and 3) translational cancer and radiation biology. For this role, you will be mainly working with the Principal Investigator (PI) and the research teams under Theme 2. The projects involve studying cancer genomics of two main cancers, nasopharyngeal and prostate cancer, and the mechanistic pathways involved or identification of novel biomarkers for radioresistance. Samples from consented patients will be used for next-generation sequencing and/or microarray to generate “big data” for further analysis by our data scientists. You will be involved in inter-departmental collaborations with oncologists, pathologists, scientists, and local and international collaborators.

You will participate in the following activities:

- Identify and study the mechanistic pathways involved in radioresistant cancers.

- Design and optimise new experiment protocols when necessary, e.g. functional validation of novel biomarkers.

- Lead and mentor junior staff in sample processing, experiments, data analysis, and database updates (Senior Research Officer).

About the Role

The SMP Executive will support the Research, Monitoring and Evaluation team to execute a funded research project - specifically the Social Mobility Programme, an exploratory research programme aiming to explore what interventions can better encourage women to increase stability and create improvements in their lives.

Community-based Oral Care Programme for Vulnerable Seniors through Tele-dentistry

Responsibilities

You will assist the principal investigator to develop and implement the tele-dentistry supported community-based oral care programme for seniors which includes:

· Key conduit between National Dental Centre Singapore (NDCS), Ministry of Health, SingHealth Regional Health System (RHS), Agencies, community partners.

· Prepare documents for and facilitate regulatory (e.g. Institution Review Board, Health Sciences Authority) approvals.

· Facilitate the signing of project agreements with external collaborators.

· Provide advice on programme implementation and workflow.

· Facilitate programme-related outreach events and training sessions.

The Research Officer will oversee the progress of the research study under the supervision of the Principal investigator. They will perform a variety of research activities which include planning and execution of experiments for functional validation, leading up to a scientific publication.

1. Tissue Logistics

• Tracking of biological samples received in the lab pertaining to the study
• Collection of patient samples (FFPE, Tissue, WBC,DNA or RNA) from Pathology
• DNA/RNA extraction from frozen tissue or FFPE

The Senior / Executive will be responsible for the daily operations of SingHealth’s research facilities and attend to daily queries from research staff. You will arrange the necessary logistics and processes for new investigators and departments moving into SingHealth Research Facilities and ensure the proper return of laboratory or office space when they vacate the premises.

You will assist in the preparation and renewal of licenses, sub-tenancy and service agreements. You will be responsible for the purchase of equipment and consumables, renewal of equipment service contracts and other services, as well as the processing of such invoices. You will also manage requests for card access to research facilities.

You will also be responsible for ensuring that the laboratories under the jurisdiction of the Office of Research are fully compliant with safety regulations and SOPs. You will need to maintain all laboratory-related licenses and permits as well as update chemical inventories in the laboratories. You will need to ensure that regular inspections of the laboratories are conducted and rectify any issues raised from the inspections.
