The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant on a 12-month contract at the National Institute of Education/ Psychology and Child & Human Development Academic Group.
Project Title: Impact of Mental illness on Undergraduates’ well-being in Singapore
Project Introduction:
This project seeks to examine the impact of mental illness on the well-being of undergraduates in Singapore. Specifically, it aims to find out what are some of the more common mental illness found in the undergraduate student population in Singapore and its impact on students’ well-being. In addition, the study also hopes to find out if there are any protective factors that will help mediate or moderate the impact of these mental illness on the students’ well-being. Similarly, the project also seeks to understand what are some of the risk factors that will aggravate the impact of the mental illness on the students’ well-being.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree or above preferably in Psychology, Sociology, or a related field. In addition, applicants must be able to perform the following:
- Familiar with data collection and management
- Possess knowledge of quantitative statistical software
- Able to perform statistical analysis such as factor analysis, regression etc
- Proficient in using Microsoft WORD, EXCEL, and POWERPOINT applications
- Possess good interpersonal communication, writing and language skills
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
Responsibilities:
- Conduct and summarise relevant academic literature reviews
- Maintain records and document research progress
- Assist with data preparation, entry, and analysis
- Assist in the administration and management of project related matters
- Assist in writing of reports and preparation of presentations
- Learn and perform statistical analysis independently
- Organise, schedule and take minutes for meetings
- Other duties as assigned by Principal Investigator
