We are looking for a versatile, intellectually curious manager to research and develop special projects with the potential to drive breakthroughs on important societal issues. Key Responsibilities:

1. Conduct and advise research efforts geared toward action

• Scope and conduct research on emerging issues in philanthropy, social impact, and public policy. This could involve examining innovative approaches (e.g., blended finance, movements), salient themes (e.g., education, climate change), new markets, member segments. Uses qualitative and quantitative methods, to deliver clear evidence-based recommendations for collaborative philanthropy and APC’s role on important social issues.
• Develop ground-up projects informed by research: Scope, conceptualize and implement projects that advance APC’s desired impact, mobilising critical members and partner support for the work.
• Contribute to managing stakeholders toward action based on insights. Manage multi-stakeholder teams toward common outcomes to unlock systems change. Work closely with Head, Innovation & Insights and Deputy CEO to build partnerships, navigate complex political landscape and accelerate action.
• Support thematic portfolios. Work closely with thematic portfolio leads to support the development of thematic strategies and specific projects under each theme.

2. Generate knowledge from APC activities and community to build the philanthropy ecosystem

• Co-create content / thought pieces working closely with team members, for publication in-house or in industry publications, news media, social media etc. Develop:
• Resources for philanthropists, leveraging insights from research and member activities (e.g., A Philanthropist’s Guide).
• Thought leadership that raises awareness of philanthropy’s contributions to society (e.g. Future of Asian Philanthropy).
• Contribute to growing philanthropy’s presence. Work with team to secure opportunities for APC and members to present as thought leaders on philanthropy, social impact, and salient issues. Engage key target audiences with knowledge products. Lead ecosystem building events, in partnership with APC Communications Manager
• Develop philanthropy support initiative (e.g. Asia Community Foundation)
• Conduct impact measurement and learning: Collect and analyse data on outcomes of APC’s programming. Incorporate knowledge and practices throughout APC’s activities where appropriate to institutionalise learnings

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate as a research fellow in the Quantitative Proteomics Core in collaboration with the Kappei lab at the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore (CSI). Our team addresses research questions on nucleic acid-protein interactions with quantitative mass spectrometry, cell biological and genetic approaches applied to cancer research and we further support research activities at CSI as part of the Quantitative Proteomics Core with quantitative proteomics solutions to study protein expression, protein interactions as well as post-translational modifications.

Proteins are the functional agents in cells, yet the systematic global characterization of their expression and spatial distribution has largely remained limited to the analysis of RNA as a proxy. To close this gap, we have recently expanded the Quantitative Proteomics Core to Clinical Proteomics applications with dedicated instruments including a timsTOF fleX mass spectrometer that allows for dual LC-MS/MS and MALDI imaging analysis. The successful candidate will work with Dr. Xinwei Li on computational and experimental optics under a project focusing on laser control of charge density wave systems.

The main responsibilities of the position include:

1. Numerical modeling of charge density wave systems and semi-quantitatively estimate the effect of laser excitation.

2. Construct optical instruments to search for signatures of laser control of charge density wave materials.

Qualifications

The Mechanobiology Institute (MBI) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is a leading multi­disciplinary institute devoted to developing new paradigms for understanding biological functions in health and diseases from the perspective of cell, tissue and organ mechanics/dynamics and mechano-signal transduction. Qualifications

Relevant experience in the study of tissue growth and morphogenesis, or mechanobiology in general, is highly desirable, as is an established track record in group leadership, mentoring, grantsmanship, and high impact publications. The successful candidate is expected to carry out research that complements and synergises with the core expertise of research currently being carried out in MBI and NUS. Research

• The researcher will be involved in and contribute actively to waste plastics upcycling research, including but not limited to the following:
• Assist in synthesis and characterisation of homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts and assist in reaction screening
• Be in charge of essential research equipment and maintennance
• Assist in training and mentoring staff, interns and students as and when required
