Case worker/ Social Service Executive/ Case Executive
Job Description & Requirements
The position above will be assigned up to 8 cases to manage. Your role is to provide psychological, emotional, cognitive, physical and appropriate disciplinary support for the residents residing in the dormitory. You will also be using a Trauma Informed care approach and must endeavour to promote the residentās best interest at all times.
Resident Management
Your Key Responsibilities is to:
1) Support the Team Lead in managing one of the dormitories (Units).
a. Plan & execute weekly & holiday unit bonding programmes with input from the residents in your unit. The programmes must be varied, engaging, appropriate & beneficial for the residents.
b. Participate in regular circle times with all the residents in your unit to give instructions & information or to get their feedback.
c. Managing the resident in the dormitory according to the individualized care plan.
d. Manage the educational needs of your residents: Attend parent-teacher meetings and ensure that your residents attend school, complete their daily homework, help residents revise for exams, ensure residents have the required school books, appropriate school uniform and other equipment; provide additional tuition support when needed in cooperation with the Education Department.
2) Ensure the residentās safety, health & good behaviour when they are in the Home and during outings & appointments.
a. Monitor the residents to ensure that they are present in the Home, unit or the activity you are supervising (or their whereabouts are known to you when they are not at the Home) and double check, communicate and give permission for residents to leave areas or activities under your supervision when it is requested or required.
b. Ensure that they follow and adhere to the structure in the Home.
c. Monitor the residents to ensure that they are physically safe and do not partake in any risky behaviour or activities which may cause themselves or others physical injury ā especially during playtime.
d. Monitor & report to the department Heads of any complaints from residents, family members, volunteers or visitors to the Home.
e. Monitor & report to the Department Heads of any signs or suspicions of physical, sexual or emotional abuse or self-harm.
f. Monitor & manage the behaviour of the residents by encouraging & rewarding good behaviour and by preventing, discouraging or discipline misbehaviour in strict adherence to the rules & discipline procedures of the Home.
g. You are required to strictly supervise residents, the use of electronic devices; adhere to a strict locked toilet & āone-at-a-timeā policy; teach rules and provide reminders about good touch & bad touch; and check in with residents to flag any behavioural concerns and issues.
Case Management
1) Provide counselling and psychological support by regularly meeting the residents monthly and ensure that these sessions are maintained in written records.
2) Assess residentsā overall wellbeing and formulate a care plan to monitor the progress and development of the resident.
a. Recommend appropriate intervention and disciplinary actions/programs as part of care plan
b. Monitor and record changes in residentās behavioural performance in care plan and provide updates during care plan meetings or when necessary.
c. To develop and enhance systems to improve existing services
d. Work with the Team Lead & Residential Care Officer to ensure the implementation of care plan interventions.
3) Work with CSLMCH Education Manager and various stakeholder from school to oversee the residentās academic and behavioural performance in school.
a. Reply emails to and answer calls from school teachers/principal
b. Attend Meet-the-parents sessions in school
c. Application of bursary and financial assistance
d. Monitor studentās academic performance and recommend follow up programs to promote academic improvements
4) Work with various stakeholders & community partners (e.g. MSF & FSC) to plan and work towards family reunification.
a. Maintain a positive working relationship with the various stakeholders & community partners.
b. Conduct home visits when necessary (especially when residents are on home leave and on extended home leave).
c. Update residentsā family on their performance in the Home and propose reintegration to their families when applicable or appropriate
d. Conduct and facilitate programmes for the residentās reintegration back to their families based on the approved care plan.
e. Work in partnership with other professionals and attend meetings including case conferences, case reviews, school meetings, hospital meetings etc.
5) Maintain proper record of all the services rendered to the resident in accordance to organization policy and MSF licensing requirement

1) Additional administrative tasked will be assigned.
2) Take on any other duties assigned by supervisor.
Minimum requirement
Academic & trades qualifications
Essential
Ā· Degree in Psychology, Social Work or Counselling from a recognized institution/university with more than 2 yearsā experience in a relevant field.
Ā· Well versed in English and a 2nd language (Chinese/Tamil/Hindi/Malay)
Desirable
Ā· Certificate in Residential Care for Children and Young persons
Work experience & skills
Essential
- Knowledgeable and competent in conducting case management support, applying trauma informed care framework, strategies and intervention in a residential setting.
- Work with the residents and their family in a sustained way to raise their capacity to cope with circumstances so as to bring about improved social functioning and well-being.
- Equip residents and their family with the required knowledge and ability to navigate through various helping professionals to gain access to necessary resources and services.
- Ability to complete reports within the given timelines.
Desirable
Ā· Experience working with āout of home careā residents who are affected by issues including neglect, abuse, domestic violence, mental health and parental substance abuse.
Ā· Has relevant experience or worked in a child-centred environment
Ā· Has experience with children & youths with trauma, challenging behaviour or special needs.
Ā· Trained in MAPA (Management of Actual or Potential Aggression), SDM-PFS (Structural Decision Making - Partnering for Safety) & CANS (Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths)
Ā· Trained in first-aid and is able to perform first aid in case of emergency.
