Associate Medical Laboratory Technologists (AMLT) are responsible for the daily operations of the laboratory which include phlebotomy, electrocardiogram, spirometry and clinical laboratory work.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily operations of the laboratory
• Perform all procedures in accordance with laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Perform phlebotomy, Electrocardiogram (ECG) and spirometry in an accurate, efficient and professional way.
• Perform Point of Care Testing (e.g. Prothrombin Time, glucose) and clinical laboratory tests such as urinalysis (e.g. Urine FEME, dipstick, pregnancy), haematology (e.g. full blood count, peripheral blood film, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, prothrombin time), biochemistry (e.g. HbA1c, neonate bilirubin), microscopy examination (e.g. fungal smear, high vaginal swab) independently.
• Ensure specimen identification, processing and storage of test specimens are in consistent with good laboratory practices
• Perform and verify quality control for all analysers prior to patients sampling
• Use of Laboratory Information System (LIS) to perform functions such as result entry, result validation and tracking for outstanding tests
• Ensure all test results provided for clinicians are accurate and reliable
• Ensure analysers/equipment are functioning properly and are well maintained.
• Notify medical technologist/lab in charge when instrument malfunction and make arrangements with BME or instrument vendor to service the instrument
• Notify inventory person in charge when reagents and stocks supplies run low.
• Perform and record internal and external quality controls and calibrations. Troubleshoot outliers in accordance to work instructions.
• Ensure ‘critical value’ are reported to the relevant personnel within 30 minutes
• Ensure daily maintenance and QC records are up to date.
• Ensure compliance to hand hygiene, workplace safety, International Patient Safety Goals (IPSG) and International Standardization of Organizations (ISO) and other applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements of the laboratory.
• Provide prompt and courteous service in person or over telecommunication to all external and internal customers (e.g patients, doctors, service providers, colleagues).
• Report adverse incidents and all workflow anomaly to supervisor
• Observe strict NUHS personal data protection act and observe internet/intranet cybersecurity guidelines.
• Perform other functions as delegated by supervisor and/or lead laboratory

Requirements

• Recognized Diploma in Biomedical Science, Clinical Laboratory Science or other relevant fields
• At least 1-3 years of experience in laboratory environment and/or relevant experience in phlebotomy preferred
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to communicate in vernacular languages are an added advantage
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
• Team player with good interpersonal skills

Job description

The National University Health System Virtual Care Centre (NUHS VCC) is an initiative where trained personnel provides tele-triage to patients and/or their caregivers. VCC will either provide advice and resolve the clinical question or escalate to the VCC clinician where appropriate. To facilitate the development and evaluation of VCC at NUHS a research team has been established. This team is now looking for a research assistant/associate with experience of conducting research projects to join the group. The successful candidate will support research fellow on the evaluation of VCC.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Assist in designing and implementing research-related tasks.
2. Assist in recruiting and coordinating research participants
3. Help with data entry, cleaning, and management
4. Assist in collecting and analysing data from various sources
5. Conduct literature reviews and summarize findings
6. Assist in developing research papers, reports, and presentations
7. Maintain accurate and organized records of research data and findings

Secondary Duties

1. Attend VCC-related meetings
2. Collaborate with the research team to achieve project goals
3. Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the reporting officer/HOD.

Job Requirements

1. Master and/or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. social sciences, psychology, biology)
2. Minimum 2-4 years of experience in hospital research is a plus.
3. Ability to work independently, and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and written.
4. Experience of applying for ethical review would be an advantage
5. Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical research standard.
6. Driven and motivated, with potential to achieve research excellence.
7. Ability to generate experimental results leading to high impact publications.

As a Patient Service Associate in our Urgent Care Centre (UCC), you will deliver friendly and efficient customer service and create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all internal and external customers / patients, with the key aim of providing excellent patient care and satisfaction.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Handle admission and discharge processes, which includes financial counselling, payment, monitoring of bed request status, ensure proper registration of personal records of patients without compromising any data and safety breaches.
• Making internal and external appointments for patients as per ordered by doctors.
• Ensure UCC’s operational and procedural area readiness based on desired service standards.
• Provide basic financial counselling to patient and next-of-kin when requested.
• Attend to any patient and next-of-kin enquiries.
• Provide chaperone assistance to doctors/nurses.
• Perform any other ad-hoc duties and responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time.

Requirements

• Minimum GCE “O” Levels qualification or equivalent.
• Proficient in computer skills (Microsoft Office), handling multiple systems such as SAP will be an advantage.
• Team player with good communication, customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to speak a second language will be an advantage.
• Able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Candidates should be comfortable/flexible with working in a hospital setting and in different clinics when needed. Prior experience in hospitality or service industries will be an advantage.

Patient Service Associates (PSA) provide frontline counter services to patients. PSA is to assist patients by checking patient’s service/order requirement, managing patient queues, handle basic enquiries (e.g. appointment booking) and to provide administrative support to medical technologists and radiographers.

Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for reception of all appointment and walk-in patients at the Diagnostics counters
• Ensure 2 patients’ identifiers (NRIC & Name) are verified for all patients when handling patient registration electronically (i.e. EPIC, LIS, RIS, POS, BSS.) and verifying tests ordered by doctors.
• Accurate appointment scheduling / booking and registration for eligible mammogram patients via Breast Screen Singapore (BSS) portal
• Registration of mammogram patients are done accurately via BSS portal, including updating of patient particulars such as mailing address and contact number.
• Relevant instructions are communicated effectively to patients prior to their procedures/tests, chaperon patients to changing or counselling room where applicable.
• Handle enquiries and provide prompt and courteous service delivery to internal and external customers.
• Responsible for payment collection when assigned to cashier duties and ensure tally of end-of day sales with cash settlement and other transaction records.
• Ensure Medisave Authorization Forms (MAF) are filled in accurately with patients’ endorsement and approval, and all Medisave transactions are captured accurately in EASIPOS
• Accurate application of promotions and discount vouchers appropriately and to validate its utilization via EASIPOS
• Support administrative function to centre in-charge including but not limited to dispatching of lab and x-ray reports, proper record and documentation of courier services.
• Performing duties as assigned by reporting officer
• Meet customer service and quality KPI as determined by department
• Follow up and support reporting officer in handling patient relation issues
