Job Responsibilities

General Administrative

  • Arrange and coordinate meetings as required.
  • Act as a liaison between SLO and external parties/individuals.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Production Matters

  • Assist the Artistic Director/Manager in engaging Directors, Conductors, Artists, and the Production Team for productions.
  • Prepare the production schedule.
  • Provide backstage support during rehearsals and performances.
  • Facilitate communication between SLO and individuals involved in productions.

Specific Stage Management Responsibilities

  • Pre-Production:
    • Scheduling: Create and distribute rehearsal and production schedules. Coordinate with the director, designers, and production team to set deadlines.
    • Communication: Serve as the main point of contact between the production team, cast, crew, and theatre management. Facilitate production meetings and distribute meeting notes.
    • Documentation: Develop and maintain the prompt book, which includes all cues, blocking, and technical notes. Prepare rehearsal reports and distribute them to relevant parties.
    • Logistics: Arrange for rehearsal space and manage the setup of the rehearsal room. Coordinate costume fittings, prop requirements, and other production needs.
  • During Rehearsals:
    • Rehearsal Management: Run rehearsals, ensuring they start and end on time. Record blocking, script changes, and any other important information.
    • Liaison: Communicate daily rehearsal reports to the production team. Address any issues or concerns from cast and crew.
    • Coordination: Ensure all props, costumes, and technical elements are available and in working order for rehearsals. Collaborate with the director to achieve the artistic vision.
  • Tech Rehearsals and Performances:
    • Technical Rehearsals: Call all cues for lighting, sound, and scene changes. Coordinate the timing of all technical elements and ensure they integrate seamlessly with the performance.
    • Performance Management: Call the show during performances, ensuring that all cues are executed as planned. Maintain communication with the director, designers, and crew during performances.
    • Problem Solving: Address any issues that arise during performances promptly and efficiently. Ensure the safety and well-being of the cast and crew.
  • Post-Production:
    • Strike: Oversee the breakdown of the set, props, and other production elements. Ensure all rented or borrowed items are returned.
    • Reporting: Compile a final performance report, noting any recurring issues and suggestions for future productions. Archive the prompt book and other production documentation.

Job Requirements

  • Candidates must possess at least a Diploma/Bachelor of Arts, Arts Management, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years related working experience.
  • Must be articulate, with excellent organisational skills, can multi-task & able to prioritise workload.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in managing artists and production is preferred.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and must be resourceful.

Working Hours

Flexible Hours. You are required to work outside the prescribed hours and days due to the nature of the work.
