Executive Director, Leveraged and Acquisition Finance

Job Summary

· Responsible for originating, structuring and leading deal teams for executing complex and highly structured loans and high yield bonds for financial sponsors/investors and other corporate clients, with focus on financial sponsor/investor clients in ASEAN & Australia, with focus on financial sponsor/investor clients.

· Identify new opportunities and lead deal teams to pitch, structure and execute transactions, while ensuring transactions are well structured and in-line with internal policies and risk approvals

Strategy

· Work with Global/Regional Head of LAF in setting, developing and executing the business strategy, and drive the business for financial sponsor/investor clients in ASEAN & Australia

· Contribute to overall LAF strategy and provide support in developing and executing the business strategy for financial results set by the Group

Business

· Actively drive origination process working in conjunction with CIB teams to generate ideas and pitch to clients with a focus on Financial Sponsors/ Investor clients.

· Work closely with Coverage and other product teams to win mandates, provide value-added financing solutions to meet clients’ needs

· Lead LAF transactions and drive business success through client penetration and profitability in conjunction with Coverage partners

· Take a lead role in supervising deal execution. Oversee robust deal selection, conflict resolution and risk management to ensure the business is consistent with the strategy and risk appetite for the Bank

· Ensure transaction structures are in line with the client requirements, market standards and the Bank’s internal risk parameters

· Monitor and deliver financial performance targets, optimising risk and return

· Build effective long-term relationships with clients and major market players

Processes

· Ensure compliance with applicable policies and external laws and regulations and operating within risk tolerance and risk appetite

· Manage business and risk management process issues by interacting with representatives on various risk, governance and control committees

· Provide oversight on key transactions to ensure ‘world class’ execution of deals in the region

· Ensure rigorous and thorough due diligence standards are maintained in deal execution, in line with best industry practice, regulatory and internal requirement

· Ensure prompt updates of the deal pipeline to ensure senior management has good visibility on the business performance

People & Talent

· Lead by example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations for junior colleagues

· Assist the team in developing their ideation skills

· Set and monitor objectives for direct reports (as applicable) / junior bankers and provide feedback

· Regular review and update of career development needs

Risk Management

· To display credit discipline in line with Group Standards at all times

· Enforce a culture of risk management, control and governance and ensure direct reports comply with the risk management processes in place

· Ensure that adequate and appropriate systems, control and procedures are in place to comply with Group and Business policies, procedures, and standards, including those governing all Risk types

· Proactively advise and monitor all major risk issues. Where appropriate, direct remedial action and/ or ensure adequate escalation and reporting to the Board and its Risk Committees

· Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role

· Take individual responsibility to ensure risk-taking is disciplined and focused

Regulatory & Business Conduct

· Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.

· Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.

· Lead the deal teams to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles

· Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Our Ideal Candidate

· University Degree

· 10 years of experience in Leverage and Acquisition Finance in origination and structuring complex deals

· Licenses and certification: Relevant regulatory certificates.
