Job Description
Airfreight Operations Management:
- Oversee daily airfreight operations, ensuring efficient and timely delivery of shipments.
- Manage the booking and coordination of cargo space with airlines.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including customs and international shipping laws.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor a team of airfreight coordinators and logistics staff.
- Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team performance.
- Set performance targets and monitor progress to meet organizational goals.
Client Relationship Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients, addressing their airfreight needs and concerns.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure repeat business and customer satisfaction.
- Handle any escalations or issues that arise during the shipping process.
Cost Management:
- Negotiate rates with airlines and other service providers to optimize cost efficiency.
- Monitor and manage the budget for airfreight operations.
- Analyze financial reports and provide recommendations for cost-saving initiatives.
Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase operational efficiency.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to maintain a competitive edge.
- Develop and refine standard operating procedures for airfreight services.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure that all airfreight operations adhere to local and international regulations.
- Manage documentation processes, including bills of lading, air waybills, and customs declarations.
- Collaborate with regulatory bodies to stay informed about changes in laws and regulations.
Vendor and Carrier Management:
- Build and maintain relationships with airlines, freight forwarders, and other logistics partners.
- Evaluate the performance of vendors and carriers, ensuring service levels meet company standards.
- Manage contracts and agreements with service providers.
Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare regular reports on airfreight operations, including key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Analyze data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on operational data
The Successful Applicant
- Minimum Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
- At least 6 years of management experience in airfreight operations, including both import and export.
- In-depth knowledge of airfreight regulations and best practices.
