WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are seeking an inspirational, experienced and highly motivated teacher of English as an Additional Language to join our Foundational English Support team. If you are keen to lay the foundations for a small group of English language learners as part of an immersive English language programme and are passionate, creative and dynamic, we want to hear from you!
JOB DESCRIPTION
The successful candidate will deliver English in a small group to Years 3-4, Years 5-6 or Years 7 or 8. They will support their learners in acquiring English proficiency in the four skills. It is an expectation that the candidate will employ inclusive practices which facilitate access to our dynamic curriculum, enable student agency and promote student wellbeing. Inquiry-based teaching strategies will be used to create positive learning environments that motivate and challenge all learners to become self-regulated, life-long learners and leaders.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Employing effective pedagogy that enables children to become successful and self-regulated learners who achieve personal excellence by:
- Building learning-focused relationships
- Using assessment information to monitor learners and plan progression
- Using appropriate assessment tools for formative and summative assessment
- Providing high quality scaffolding and feedback to learners
- Encouraging learners to reflect on their learning
- Involving parents in their children’s learning through learner-led conferences and regular parent – teacher dialogue
- Employing and integrating ICT as a tool that improves children’s learning and assists learners to solve authentic problems related to “real-world” problems or issues
- Involvement in whole school events and activities as required
- Model the skills and attitudes of a global citizen, through presentation, personal and professional conduct
- Proactively safeguarding our learners
- Working with learners as a homeroom tutor as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- A relevant degree
- A teaching qualification (or equivalent)
- CELTA or TESOL qualification (preferred)
- Evidence of continued relevant professional development
- Experience in teaching learners with diverse needs
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in an international school environment where the school curriculum focused on PYP, MYP, IBDP and/or UK (preferred)
