The Asian School of the Environment (ASE) at Nanyang Technological University is an interdisciplinary School that aims to be a world leader in environmental research focusing on environmental challenges in Asia. The research laboratory on Resilient and Inclusive cities at ASE addresses important challenges related to rapid urbanization and climate change in Asia-Pacific. It focuses on understanding and modelling the benefits of nature-based solutions – e.g. urban parks or peri-urban forests, road trees, green roofs – in the region to inform policy and practice, and create more resilient and inclusive cities. The research uses an interdisciplinary lens, combining geospatial modeling of urban environments and empirical studies of urban practice.

The laboratory is currently looking for a Research Assistant or Research Associate to support the assessment of climate and biodiversity urban plans of Southeast Asian cities and other lab projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the collection and analysis of climate and biodiversity urban plans in a subset of Southeast Asian cities
• Support other lab projects through literature review, data processing, and other analyses

Job Requirements:

• Minimally Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape & Urban planning, Environmental Sciences or equivalent
• Experience in urban or regional planning in Southeast Asia
• Experience or strong interest in nature-based solutions in urban environments
• Great attention to details
• Experience with managing large datasets (in Excel or other software) is preferred
• Proficiency with GIS software and geospatial modelling software/ tools is preferred

Job Description

The successful candidate will assist the senior team members in investigating the role of MOAP-1 in aging, senescence and lipid metabolism.

The Research Assistant will be involved in wet lab experiments that require cell culture, different molecular biology techniques and mouse model. The Research Assistant will also do general laboratory maintenance, for example preventive maintenance of equipment, buffer preparation, ordering and ensuring consumables are well stocked.

Key responsibilities of this role include:
• Perform assigned tasks and support all aspects of the ongoing research projects.
• Assist with mice husbandry and animal experimentation/procedure.
