Nanyang Business School (NBS) invites applications for the position of Senior Research Fellow (Post-doc) with Prof. Xin Chang’s research group. This position is supported by a Tier III grant to establish a Climate Transformation Programme (CTP) at NTU. As part of this programme, the Climate Finance Cluster will assess the multifaceted business risks posed by the physical impacts of climate change, narrow the protection gap, and facilitate the transition to a low-carbon economy.

The Senior Research Fellow will be responsible for developing procedures to measure and price risks arising from climate change suitable for each company so that climate risk can be managed by companies and hedged by investors, and seeing this work through to publication in major research journals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Use computational linguistic tools and machine learning techniques to analyze discussions on climate change in corporate social responsibility reports, conference call transcripts, and the Management Discussion and Analysis section of companies’ annual reports

• Construct a dataset that can produce a climate risk fact sheet containing essential information about various climate risk exposure (e.g., drought, flooding) of a region or a city

• Develop a new multifactor asset pricing model containing a climate risk factor, which investors can use to effectively price in climate change risk and hedge climate risk

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver high quality courses in FinTech that include both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in both SCSE and NBS.

• Contribute to curriculum development and enhancement to ensure students receive world class teaching education

• Provide academic guidance and mentorship to students, fostering their intellectual and professional growth.

• Contribute to the School and university’s service activities, including committee participation, outreach and engagement with industry partners

• Facilitates and conducts all teaching assignments, both face-to-face and virtual delivery

• Oversee and complete core course administrative tasks or duties such as course evaluation, online course materials, attendance records, academic counselling on student progress

• Conducts assessments, marking and grade entries, feedback to students, student consultations, non-academic matters (e.g., invigilation) etc.

• Develops and updates course materials and learning resources for course delivery and support students' learning

• Provides regular course and student progress statistics for reporting, improvement of students’ learning and strategic decision making

• Demonstrates values and principles of professional conduct in all endeavours

• Conduct impactful research in areas related to FinTech and collaborate with colleagues within the department and across the Uuniversity

• Promote and Facilitate collaboration between NBS and SCSE.

• Any other assigned duties

Requirements

• Applicants should preferably have industry and/or academic experience, a passion for teaching and possess a Master's degree or PhD in related field.

• Candidates should demonstrate teaching/mentoring excellence and be able to engage in curriculum development and work closely with students for undergraduate courses
