Preliminary data of the lab has shown a differential adaptive immune response polarization between two alphaviruses and identified, via in vivo comparative multiOmic approaches, a set of candidate host factors potentially responsible for the phenotype. The project will entail a close characterization of these host factors and their role in the viral life cycle as well as the modulation of the immune response of small animal model to these viruses. In addition to multi-Omics approaches (including single-cell and spatial), protein-protein interactions, microscopy, functional genomics, viral reverse genetics and CRISPR Cas9 gene editing will be some of the tools used to investigate this viral hijacking and understand the host-viral interplay. Animals models available in the lab include mice and zebrafish. Downstream of characterization will aim to validate these targets in small preclinical models for subsequent drug discovery in the A*STAR ecosystem. We are embarking on a project to establish genome-engineered packaging cell lines for production of lentiviral gene therapy vectors. The project is closely linked with industrial partners and the aim is develop technology with eventual commercial deployment.

We are looking for a Research Associate to drive the wet lab research activities for the duration of the project.

Responsibilities:

• Clone and amplify complex constructs necessary for engineering of mammalian cells
• Maintain cultures of mammalian cells to a high standard and conduct engineering experiments working closely with the project leads
• Compile and organise experimental data, including cell culture records, characterization results, and cell line inventory information
• Conduct daily wet-lab experiments e.g. nucleic acid extraction and quantification

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Organize in-person and online coaching and training sessions
• Prototype new approaches in teaching and learning, anchored on evidence-informed practices

Qualifications

Professor Allen Yeoh’s research focuses on childhood leukaemia, with a particular emphasis on translational clinical research in acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL).
