About the role

Reporting to the Regional Credit Manager, this intern will be part of a larger team within the Asia Pacific Finance department, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to minimise company financial risk and assist in enforcing existing policies and procedures. This 6-month full-time internship commences December 2024/January 2025.

What you will be doing

• Ensure monthly Credit Management Reporting is submitted to Regional Management/HQ on timely basis
• Assist the Regional Credit Management team to request and pursue payment on delinquent/Close monitoring accounts via communication with account holder
• Review and update account status according to established guidelines
• Maintains log of payment promises and pertinent account details; schedules follow-up communication with account holder
• Responsible for handling the collection activity for delinquent accounts and enforcing collection policies & procedures
• Follow up with internal customers & external customers to ensure overdue amounts are paid promptly
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies relating to non-payment of invoices
• Prepare and send monthly statements of account & reminder letter to customers/internal customers
• Report and alert any exceptional and problematic customers and apply appropriate actions to minimize bad debt
• Liaise closely with Internal External customers, proactively build and foster strong relationships
• Other duties as assigned

Team Summary

The Credit Settlement Risk (CSR) team is part of the Risk function and acts as a 2nd Line of Defence. CSR is responsible for protecting Visa and its shareholders from financial loss and goodwill damage because of a member’s failure to fulfil its settlement obligations.  In line with Visa’s growth strategy requiring a balanced and sustainable approach to risk / reward, credit & settlement risk is one of the significant risks that Visa Asia Pacific undertakes.    

 

What a Director, Credit Risk Management does at Visa:

• The role requires to be a strategic leader, supporting the head of function in setting and delivering the strategic direction and goals on collateral management, managing key stakeholder relationships. In addition, the role requires to be a subject matter expert in leading new collateral initiatives for clients in Asia Pacific and work with the credit analysts to appropriate mitigating measures to manage the credit risks.
• The role requires strong leadership, influencing and stakeholder management skills. Key to the role will be a proactive forward-looking approach to enhancing the Credit & Settlement risk capabilities to support business growth strategy whilst balancing an appropriate risk / reward outcome. There will be a strong emphasis on the use data and analytical capabilities to improve processes, become more effective and provide better insights to actively make better risk management decisions. 
• The ability to take a portfolio approach to managing and understanding of the Asia Pacific client base as well as a good understanding of the CSR framework and systems.
• The role will require to lead and maintaining a strong relationship and partnering with Global Credit & Settlement function, complying with the Global Risk policy and procedures, supporting, active participation and as appropriate influencing global projects to support Visa Asia Pacific.  
• The Director will report directly to the Senior Director, Asia Pacific Credit Settlement Risk.

The Role Responsibilities Strategy Support the Executive Director, Third Party Risk Management in fully embedding Third Party Risk as an integrated risk type, fulfilling the requirements of second line oversight and challenge for all regulatory commitments. Work closely with the Principal Risk Type teams and SMEs to ensure delivery of the embedding of Third Party Risk management into the Group's relevant Risk Types. Work closely with the Principal Risk Type teams, SMEs and the Business to ensure the Group remains within Risk Appetite Business Support the Business in managing their Vendors through enhancement of a Vendor Risk scorecard which provides a forward looking view of risk, and incorporates internal and external data considerations Communicate confidently with senior stakeholders, taking a lead in working groups and other meetings. Strong understanding and ownership of the bank's third party risk stress testing and scenario analysis approach, and wider stress testing and scenario analysis capabilities and existing processes Processes As part of the risk deep dives and analysis, evaluate relevant existing controls and recommend new control requirements, where applicable. Recommend enhancements to the policies and standards, where applicable, as a result of key gaps and issues identified. Risk Management Recommend actions to be taken as a result of the outcomes from the Vendor scorecard Set holistic objective triggers for exit management, which consider outcomes from across the PRTs Review and challenge of overall risk control environment for Third Party Risk Work closely with RFOs to fully embed and ensure stronger linkage between Third Party Risk and Resilience, ICS, Reputational & Sustainability risk and Climate Risk Support the Group's requirements on internal management scenarios and stress testing and scenario analysis Review and challenge Third Party risk assessments for PRA notifications Act quickly and decisively when any risk and control weaknesses become apparent, and ensure they are addressed within an appropriate timeframe and escalated through the relevant committees Governance Contribute to overall governance mechanisms (including committee oversight and individual approval authorities) for Third Party Risk Management. Provide support across Third Party Risk Management, ensuring compliance with the highest standards of regulatory and business conduct and compliance practices as defined by internal and external requirements. Embed the Group's values and code of conduct in Third Party Risk. Ensure that material risk exposures and related issues are reported to the responsible risk governance committees.
