JOB SUMMARY

The Financial Markets Technology function is responsible for the systems development and technology infrastructure which underpin the Bank’s services for Financial Markets clients.
· The Financial Markets Risk Technology team is looking for an experienced and seasoned technical lead to contribute towards the building of a new market and reference data platform within FM. Whilst the SABRE platform has continuously been improved over the years to scale to an ever-increasing user base and a growing number of capabilities, amount of data and computation, its static and market data components have grown organically without going through any drastic transformation. The refreshed FM static and market strategy also provides a unique opportunity to realign the Static and Market Data Service software architecture, interfaces and operational processes to that strategy. It’s also an enabler for all major projects: FRTB, IBOR transition, key systems migrations and more. The team is made of ~30 people and delivers to all functions, FM Front Office (incl. Quants), Middle Office, Market Risk, Valuation Control, Product Control, Technology and Back Office. It covers all asset classes: FX, Rates, Credit, EQ and Commodities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· The successful candidate will play a key role in the implementation of highly visible strategic programmes with the primary responsibilities around building components within the Market & Reference Data platform. Any developed solution must be scalable, robust and fault tolerant catering to the existing and future business needs in a timely manner. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to develop innovative solutions with a view to these being released quickly to gain feedback before advising on the full scale roll out.
· The candidate will be a natural leader and mentor with a driven yet pragmatic, delivery focused mindset and a desire to deliver constant business value through the effective and innovative use of technology with a proven background in delivering high quality business critical software. The candidate will be expected to take ownership, responsibility and accountability for critical deliveries. In addition the successful candidate will have come from leading in a mature and demonstrable agile background and be comfortable dealing with the resistance that comes with change.
· The candidate will work closely with the other teams and senior stakeholders in order to design and implement critical strategic solutions whilst collaborating and engaging with Business Stakeholders to deliver to exacting requirements. The candidate is expected to work in a dynamic global team with business analysts, project managers, business stakeholders and other technical experts across multiple locations
Key Skills
· 8+ years of experience managing development teams in an agile environment
· 12+ years Java development experience working in a performance focused concurrent environment
· 8+ years hands on development with investment banking IT experience
· Experience with Solace/Messaging Platforms
· Experience with working on Vendor Platforms
· Good understanding of derivative products in at least 2 of the following asset classes: FX, Rates, Commodities, Credit
· Good understanding of distributed computing, any experience of using Cloud computing is beneficial
· Experience of managing stakeholders and team members in multiple locations

· Work closely with the Project Manager, and a team of developers to deliver Java components to internal business users
· Demonstrate a systematic and disciplined architectural, system design and programming approach
· Deeply passionate about best-practice software design principles, you will write robust code along with a high-level of test coverage
· Self-starter who can drive/facilitate requirements and development effort
· Design smart and scalable solutions following the bank standards
· Coordinate with other teams in Technology
· Develop, prepare and maintain system documentation, including program descriptions and operational procedures
· Act as the second line of support during production problems.

· Development experience on functional language, such as Haskell, is a plus

· Knowledge of financial instruments and derivatives, trading and risk management, market data, and market risk processes and methodologies
· Understanding of risk measures, risk analysis and reporting
· Knowledge of at least one specific asset class / line of financial instruments
Knowledge and Experience
· Expert in planning, organizing and leading large-scale technology projects (> 100 people) in the Financial Markets industry.
· Sound knowledge and first-hand experience of Financial Markets market data, reference data, pricing and risk (at least one asset class in-depth).
· Expert in full life-cycle software design and implementation with post-implementation support.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Experience working with senior business stakeholders and executive committees in Financial Markets
· Strong communication and presentation skills

· Extensive knowledge in the reference and market data (rate/fx/cds/commodities curves, vol surfaces, FM instruments, bonds/ABS, futures …etc)
· Experience or knowledge on Reuters, BBG and vendor products like Asset Control & Murex is a plus
· Proven ability to work across business streams and have exposure to front to back system implementation.
· Good understanding of key technology concepts, strong technical acumen is a big plus.
· Pragmatic team player with an attention to detail.
· Ability to drive multiple agenda and effectively manage priorities.
