Department overview:
Transfer Pricing is a mature and established function within the Tax team of Nomura’s Finance division. The Transfer Pricing team is global in nature, with team members in all regions across London, New York, Tokyo, Singapore and Mumbai. We have a significant presence in Mumbai, providing support on analytical and operational Transfer Pricing matters.
The Transfer pricing team for each region rolls up into the regional tax team of Asia ex Japan (‘AeJ’), which thereafter rolls into Global Tax function.
Role description:
Reporting to the Regional Head of Tax in AeJ, you will be supporting the Group manage its Wholesale Business Transfer Pricing (TP) policies, provide support to business and corporate stakeholder and manage TP risk for AeJ. Whilst the primary focus of the role is to be responsible for all AeJ TP matters. Another key aspect of the role is to contribute to the global TP initiatives and also regional tax matters.
Functionally, the remit of the role is broad, covering the following areas:
- Policy setting and strategic review including the TP risk profile of each entity in AeJ
- Implementation and execution of TP policies, including review of key TP transactions and supporting legal entity in TP reporting
- TP audit defence and tax authority engagement including APA strategy and implementation as well as audit defence for the dozen countries where Nomura has operations within AEJ.
- Provide guidance and support to regional teams regarding transfer pricing issues, including reviewing and advising on intercompany agreements and assisting with transfer pricing audits.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with tax authorities, external advisors, and industry peers to stay abreast of transfer pricing developments and ensure the company's transfer pricing practices are aligned with industry standards.
- Stay informed about changes in transfer pricing regulations and best practices, and proactively identify and address potential risks and opportunities.
- TP documentation including local file reports but also benchmarking, fact finding and policy rationale
Requirements:
- Minimum Degree from an accredited University
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in Transfer Pricing within a financial institution or an international accounting firm
- Experience in transfer pricing principles, methodologies, regulations, international tax such as Corporate Tax and Indirect Tax and transfer pricing principles for Asia Pacific region
- Qualified Chartered Accountant or CPA certificate
- Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing transfer pricing strategies that align with business objectives and comply with tax regulations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to navigate complex transfer pricing issues and provide practical solutions.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex transfer pricing concepts to non-tax professionals.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
