We are current looking for Occupational Therapist our social service agency (SSA). The Agency is a charity set up to help people with disabilities of all ages and integrate them into society.
Job Description / Responsibilities
1. Assess and identify individual needs of clients, formulate, develop and implement appropriate individualised occupational therapy programmes.
2. Work with clients on a one-to-one basis, group or special setting based on their levels of function and severity of disability.
3. To be part of the multidisciplinary team of professionals (e.g. therapists, teachers, therapy assistants and teacher assistants etc.) involved in the treatment process.
4. Evaluate and document clients' occupational therapy needs, progress, monitor training programmes and review its effectiveness in accordance to the requirements of the programme.
5. Maintain clear records of all cases treated. Write and submit reports on all cases treated as and when required.
6. Refer clients to respective specialists for consultation and appropriate treatment as and when necessary.
7. Provide occupational therapy consultation, support and update on the clients' progress and status to caregivers/relevant parties and all those involved in the multidisciplinary team.
8. Evaluate, prescribe and fabricate/purchase assistive devices as required by the clients to improve function.
9. Train staff, caregivers and volunteers in the execution and/or maintenance of occupational therapy programmes.
10. Be involved in discussions of client-related issues with caregivers, volunteers and members of the multidisciplinary team.
11. Monitor and evaluate clients’ functional abilities and make recommendations regarding clients’ suitability for further training, treatment and/or any other age-appropriate related activities such as play, schooling or employment.
12. Supervise and/or work in liaison with the volunteers and other members of the multidisciplinary team (e.g. health care/therapy assistants, teachers, teacher assistant etc.) who are helping in the treatment of the clients.
13. Conduct home/school/worksite visits as and when necessary.
14. Participate in Therapy Hub projects and other outreach programmes as and when required: on-site assignments at various VWO’s and partner organisations.
15. Provision of Occupational Therapy related training in relevant platforms as and when required
Report to the Occupational Therapy Supervisor, Therapy Hub Manager and/or Programme Manager of any accident or injury sustained by clients that may occur during the course of working.
17. Professional/ Staff Development
- Keep abreast of the latest research and developments on Occupational Therapy.
- Attend and contribute regularly to the following:
Staff Meetings
Case Conference and In-Services
Any other meetings as and when necessary
17.3 To be involved in networking with hospitals and other community organisations (e.g. schools, associations, long term care facilities etc.).
17.4 To participate in events organised / supported by Agency as and when required
18. Administration
- Responsible to and liaise with the Occupational Therapy Supervisor, Manager of Therapy Hub, Programme Manager and/or other senior staff in all matters pertaining to administration.
- Engage in administrative duties relevant to departmental work.
- Any other duties assigned by Occupational Therapy Supervisor and Therapy Hub Manager.
- Maintain inventory of the equipment and resource materials for the programme.
19. Complete any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by management.
Required Qualifications and Experience
1. Masters or Degree in Occupational Therapy or its equivalent (recognised by the Allied Health Professional Council)
2. Registered as Occupational Therapist under AHPC
3. Good communication and interpersonal skills
4. Fluency in local languages will be an advantage

Sun Ray Scheme
Sun Ray is a centralised scheme administered by NCSS to develop individuals who have strong leadership qualities to lead professional practices and agencies in the social service sector.
To enable a holistic development. there will be structured rotation across social service agencies in different sub-sectors to provide individuals with cross-organisational exposure and support. The exposure will enable those on the Sun Ray to develop broader sector perspectives and gain deep sector knowledge to help the social service agencies that they are deployed to build capabilities and capacity.
