Role of Position
Leading a team of Workplace Safety & Health Staff, the incumbent is overall responsible for the functions of the organizations EHS Team and the effective implementation of the Organizations SHMS within all departments and
sites.
Key Performance Outcome Measurements
· Responsible for the scheduling and delivery of timelines integrated within the Organization’s SHMS;
· Effective deployment of EHS personnel within the Organization;
· Review of outgoing EHS documentation to external agencies;
· Monitor EHS inventories;
· Monitoring and analysing CAPA request submissions;
· Monitor development of Organization’s internal EHS training plan for purpose of continual improvement;
· Monitor the assessment of shortlisting suppliers/vendors engaged by the Organization;
· Monitor the closure for inspections conducted within the Organization and the resultant trends analysis and to implement appropriate initiative to promote continual improvement;
· Monitor all applicable legal requirements to ensure that they are identified, evaluated, communicated and documented.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
· Plans, organizes and manages the activities of EHS function to fulfil the requirements set out in the Organizations SHMS;
· Provides effective leadership to team members ensuring good employee morale and performance;
· Motivates, coaches and counsels team members on an ongoing basis and ensures that good team work and esprit-de-corps exist in the EHS Department;
· Engages and disciplines poorly performing members within the EHS team;
· Co-ordinates the work of WSHO cum ECOs and allocate tasks;
· Develops good professional working relationships with suppliers, vendors, contractors, clients and consultants;
· Ensures that EHS functions are carried out in a highly ethical manner and all decisions are made on objective grounds;
· To lead the EHS functions effectively and to innovate for continuous improvement;
· Organizes monthly dialogue sessions with EHS team members;
· Ensures convening of monthly corporate EHS meeting;
· Any other duties as may be assigned.
Qualification
· Degree in Environmental Safety and Health and,
· WSQ Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety and Health or,
· Safety Officer Training Certificate, supplemented with Risk Management Course Certificate and Managing Work at Heights Course or Higher;
· Certificate of Performance - Environmental Control Officer’s Course;
· Certificate of Registration for Workplace Safety and Health Officers;
· Certificate of Registration for Environmental Control Officers.
Approximate Years of Experience
· 5 years practicing as an EHS Manager, and;
· Minimum 5 year post registration of Workplace Safety and Health Officers with the Ministry of Manpower.
