Research Scientist (Power & Energy Systems Modelling)

We are looking for researchers who have a passion for power and energy systems and advancing the growth of sustainable energy. They will develop models and simulations of power and energy systems, analyse their resiliency and efficiency, and optimise their planning, operations, and deployment particularly to address problems relating to the renewable energy transition.

The Role

We require a full-time teacher to work in the Mathematics Faculty who could potentially teach across the full 11 – 18 age range. In the Sixth Form, the school offers A Level Mathematics, A Level Further Mathematics, and IB Mathematics (Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretations at Higher and Standard levels). Key Responsibilities

1. Teaching & Learning

• Deliver the curriculum to assigned classes in accordance with the School’s timetable.

2. Planning & Development

3. Management of Resources and the Teaching Environment

4. Assessment, Recording & Reporting

• Ensure students’ work is regularly assessed according to Maths department policy.
• Set homework in line with school policy.

• Use the information gained from assessment formatively, to inform planning and generate further improvement in pupil achievement.
• Assist the HOF/AHOF in the setting and marking of school examinations and to supervise entries for external examinations.

• Perform the role of form tutor as required and fulfil the responsibilities of that position.

POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS

The Asia Research Institute invites outstanding, active researchers from around the world to work on an important piece of Asia-centred research in the social sciences or humanities.

Apart from the quality of the research proposal, and the applicant’s publication track record, positions will be awarded on the basis of the relationship of their research topic to the identified priorities and themes of ARI’s research clusters as listed in Research Clusters and Their Foci (click here). Given that a growing proportion of ARI’s funding is derived from external sources, strong preference will be given to candidates with potential to contribute to building competitive research grant applications.

The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow on Virology, Immunology or Antibody Engineering in the Infectious Diseases Translational Research Programme (ID TRP) and the Department of Biochemistry, NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. ID TRP and Biochemistry are pooling efforts of prominent scientists from multiple disciplines and committed to human infectious diseases closely relevant to Singapore and the region. Our projects are carried out in close collaboration with Immunology TRP, Synthetic Biology TRP and National University Hospital.

Appointments will be offered on a two-year contract basis, with the potential for extension. Onboarding is anticipated to occur prior to 2025. The group leader will supportively provide customised trainings and grant opportunities for early career researchers.

Purpose of the post

Working in the group of Assistant Professor Qu Kun at the ID TRP and the Department of Biochemistry (https://medicine.nus.edu.sg/bch/faculty/qu-kun/), the Research Fellow will conduct a project aimed at understanding the immune response of respiratory viruses. The Qu lab is funded by the Presidential Young Professorship start-up award, National Medical Research Council Young Individual Research Grant, and Ministry of Education Academic Research Funds. We decipher dynamic and elusive viral infection mechanisms using cryo-electron microscopy, tomography and subtomogram averaging. In 2024, the latest Titan Krios G4 TEM and Arctis cryo-plasma focused ion beam milling SEM are scheduled for installation at the NUS Centre for BioImaging Sciences (CBIS), which will offer us formidable advantages to conduct highly automatic structural studies inside the cell.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Fellow is expected to:

• Carry out scientific research aimed at understanding the dynamics of host-pathogen interactions.
• Introduce and apply a wide range of techniques in molecular biology and immunology to study innate and adaptive immune responses.
