Overview
As a Vehicle Homologation Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that our vehicles comply with all relevant regulatory and legal requirements in the markets where they are sold. This role requires a deep understanding of automotive regulations, standards, and certification processes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, engineering, and regulatory affairs, to ensure that our vehicles meet all necessary homologation and certification standards.
Key Job Accountabilities
Regulatory Compliance:
Stay abreast of current and upcoming automotive regulations, standards, and certification requirements globally.
Interpret and communicate regulatory requirements to internal teams.
Ensure that vehicle designs and modifications comply with local, regional, and international standards.
Certification Process:
Manage the entire homologation and certification process for new and existing vehicle models.
Collaborate with external testing agencies and regulatory bodies to facilitate the approval process.
Prepare and submit required documentation for regulatory approvals.
Testing and Validation:
Plan and coordinate vehicle testing activities to validate compliance with regulatory requirements.
Analyze test results and work with engineering teams to address any non-compliance issues.
Develop and maintain testing protocols to ensure ongoing compliance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with design, engineering, and manufacturing teams to integrate regulatory requirements into the product development process.
Collaborate with regulatory affairs professionals to navigate the complex landscape of regional and global regulations.
Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare and maintain accurate records of homologation and certification processes.
Generate reports for internal and external stakeholders detailing compliance status and any necessary corrective actions.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvement in the homologation and certification workflow.
Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging trends in vehicle homologation.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus.
- Proven experience in vehicle homologation, certification, or regulatory affairs within the automotive industry.
- In-depth knowledge of global automotive regulations and standards (e.g., FMVSS, ECE, CCC).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
