Primarily responsible for business development which includes achieving his/her location’s
Key Result Areas (KRAs) as determined by Agency Management

managing the overall production numbers together with his/her SDOA.

A team member who will perform new business underwriting assessment for High Net Worth (HNW) cases and non-HNW cases within assigned authority, achieving underwriting KPIs through active case management and support daily operational tasks. Scope includes Life, HSG, Accident & Health and Personal Lines.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Underwrite large sum assured applications (formal and preliminary) and communicate decision to intermediaries within agree TAT with competitive underwriting decision and minimal requirement(s) calling. This will include negotiating with reinsurers for terms favorable to placing the business.
• Ensure cases are underwritten within the agreed TAT.
• Reviewing complex appeal cases and coaching junior underwriters to underwrite large sum assured cases.
• Liaison with reinsurers on referral cases that are beyond local authority.
• Resolving enquiries and issues with channel management is also part of the responsibility of this role.
• Actively handling own cases appeal with team lead and postpone and decline cases by directly communicating to agent or BDM on the rationale and any other option that can be explored.
• Review and identify area of process improvement or operational efficiency within New Business department. Also, to support Section Head to drive changes in process improvement and operational efficiency.
• Involved in Quality Assurance review (audit of cases) where applicable.
• Involved in Product and Campaign launches where applicable.
• Instill a higher risk awareness culture and collaborate with second liner on roles and support needed.
• Provide underwriting-related support to business development projects when needed.
• Perform data or trend analysis when needed.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

You should be able to adapt to dynamic environments and manage multiple stakeholders. You also have:

• A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
• At least 10 years underwriting experience in either direct insurers or reinsurers.

Responsibilities:

Pricing and Product Development

• Determine pricing for employee benefits insurance products in accordance with the company’s underwriting standards, with the objective to minimize excess risks and maximize profits and retention. This includes regular review and monitoring to ensure portfolio profitability remains in line with best estimate assumptions.
• Developing new products and enhancements to existing products in line with company’s product standards. This includes refreshing pricing assumptions, pricing tools and conducting regular experience analysis.

Management Reporting

• Ensure timely and accurate submission of management reports. This includes internal reports for decision making by local and group management, and regulatory and industry reports submitted to MAS / LIA.
• Perform analysis on financial indicators and performance metrics and provide inputs for business and strategy planning

Tableau Dashboards

• Develop and maintain Tableau dashboards that provide quality management information to support business monitoring, decision-making and business strategy

Reinsurance Management and Administration

• Ensure timely and accurate submission of reports for reinsurance and pool administration, including preparing regulatory and industry reports to internal and external stakeholders
• Assist in the review, negotiation, and analysis of reinsurance treaties
• Support the review of treaty documentation and ensure adherence to Group guideline

Requirements:

• Education – Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Studies / Business or Data Analytics / Mathematics & Statistics
• Experience – 2 to 7 years of working experience in Actuarial / Group Insurance (Employee Benefits) / Data analytics / Management reporting / Other business support functions involved in working with large and complex datasets

4. Managing and support engaging of Appointment Setting Officer and matters pertaining to CPF Medisave Liabilities

· Review application and sent for screening before seeking approval on the engagement of Appointment Setting Officers.

· Liaise with IT for request of new logger / Spidergate enable phone / retrieval account.

· Maintain register for audit purposes.

· Liaise with CPF Board, provide in-force listing on monthly basis for computation of Medisave Liabilities

• Review defaulter list provided by CPF Board, prepare letters and communicate to location sales teams to follow up
• Liaise with Finance Department for deduction of Medisave Liabilities

5. Managing and Support Application for Span of Control Deviation for Tied Distribution

• Review application received, sent for screening to ensure meeting the requirement before seeking approval
• Conduct annual assessment on SOC Deviation to ensure that they continue to adhere to the prescribed standards of deviation.

6. Ad-hoc Tasks

To assist in any other ad-hoc projects that requires Department’s involvement

Requirements:

• Education – Tertiary education
• Experience – At least 2 to 5 years of experience in life insurance industry
• Familiar with MAS’ Financial Advisers Act (FAA), relevant notices, regulations, and guidelines; LIA Guidelines, Product Knowledge and Company’s procedures and process will be an added advantage.
