Hydraulic Modeler – Water Distribution Networks

The Hydraulic Modeler for Water Distribution Networks is a key element in the Singapore team dedicated to advancing the state of the art of digital twin systems and delivering cutting edge digital transformation to Water Utilities in Asia. Reporting to the Project Manager for a drinking water network digital twin project in Singapore, the Hydraulic Modeler is in charge of the hydraulic models that will be used in real-time in the system. He/She will also be a main point of contact with the system users, supporting them and gathering requirements for improvements. The Hydraulic Modeler is autonomous but will be supported actively by senior modeling experts from Consulting, providing methodological guidance as well as helping in solving particular issues that may arise.

Responsibilities & Duties

• In coordination with the data scientist in the team, prepare and validate all data to be used for model building and calibration (asset information, sensor data…).
• Build and/or update hydraulic models to ensure a good fit with the structure of the network. Calibrate the model to a level meeting the demands of the client.
• Participate in the definition and validation with the client of the model calibration KPIs, and of the automated model health monitoring module part of the digital twin system.
• Write model building and calibration reports, including for periodic recalibration. Produce drawings as needed.

Responsibilities & Requirements

• Minimum 6-10 years of experience and required familiarity with at least 2 databases among Mysql/MariaDB, PostgreSQL/EDB, Oracle, MSSQL,DB2, MongoDB and Redis.
• Position requires the ability to work various work schedules that support a 24x7 coverage included nights, weekends and holidays shift.
• Alert monitoring for all database flavors (MariaDB, PostgreSQL, EDB, Oracle, DB2, MSSQL, Redis, and Mongo) and take appropriate action.
• Daily health monitoring of production database ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
• Perform daily backup monitoring and take action to have recovery solution in place.
• Managing the database availability and performance, including incident and problem management.
• Incident management to work with MIM(Major Incidenet Management) team to resolve/co-ordinate the high critical issues.
• Carry out periodical production patch and upgrade management.
• Work with users and vendors to take timely and appropriate steps to resolve and troubleshoot issues impacting service levels.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and efficiency gains in database operations. Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance system reliability and performance
• Required familiarity with multiple databases among MariaDB, PostgreSQL, EDB, Oracle, DB2, MSSQL, Redis, and Mongo.
• MariaDB exposure to replication concepts to resync.
• MariaDB backup and restore & perform point-in-time recovery.
• MariaDB Ensure performance, security of databases.
• Oracle/DB2 Basic knowledge on backup and archive logging to ensure resiliency.
• Oracle/DB2/MSSQL familiarity to monitor and taken action for LRQ and LOCKWAITS.
• PostgreSQL/EDB get familiarize with LRQ, LRT, LRIIT monitoring and take action accordingly.
• Redis basic monitoring of database, shards and sync status.
• Perform database patching/upgrade both manually & via Robosys.
• Stay up-to-date with banking industry regulations, standards, and best practices related to database management, security, and compliance
• Basic knowledge of Linux operating system (RedHat)/AIX/Windows and basic commands.
• Committed and motivated individual and willing to work odd hours at times when required.
• Highly coachable and willingness to learn.
• Excellent communication and Client management.
• Team Player who is self-motivated and has the drive to improve performance and achieve results.
