This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced compliance attorney to join a multidisciplinary Global Litigation & Compliance team and help implement and sustain Applied Materials’ compliance programs within South and Southeast Asia. This will be a critical role with broad responsibilities reporting into the Senior Director, Ethics & Compliance but also working extensively with leaders in trade, privacy, and litigation. While a significant focus of the role will be promoting business ethics and compliance in the areas of anti-bribery, anti-corruption, and anti-fraud, it will also have responsibility or provide oversight for other regulatory, risk, and compliance areas in the region, including trade and privacy.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, and in coordination and collaboration with the broader Global Litigation & Compliance team, you will be responsible for compliance counseling, programming, enforcement, remediation, and reporting in the areas of ethics and integrity, conflicts of interest, anti-bribery and anti-corruption, third-party risk management, trade regulation and export controls, and data privacy. Successful execution of this role will include:

• Continually analyzing compliance-related laws and regulations applicable to the company and their impact on strategy and operations
• Providing proactive and reactive counsel and guidance to regional executive teams and leaders regarding compliance issues, and serving as their primary point of contact for compliance-related questions, concerns, and escalations
• Conducting and advising on compliance risk assessments, audits, and due diligence reviews

Key Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited US law school and 10+ years’ relevant experience in-house and/or with a top-tier law firm experience with a substantial focus on compliance
• Experience supporting and collaborating with stakeholders at all organizational levels, including executives (C-Suite, CISO, etc.)
• Ability to influence beyond authority in a complex and matrixed organization
• Experience leading a regional compliance program for a multi-national company, preferably in the APAC region and India
• Strong background in conducting internal investigations and risk assessments
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, impeccable integrity, good judgment, strong analytical skills, flexible, and pragmatic.
• Collaborative and team-oriented by nature, and able to build strong partnerships across cultures and regions
