Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will characterize mixtures of pharmaceutical excipients and drug materials to develop methodologies for screening hot-melt extrusion formulations and selecting optimal operating conditions using rheology, with the objective of producing amorphous-solid-dispersions. You will validate the developed processing space and operating conditions for extruded pharmaceutical formulations using a lab-scale extruder. In collaboration with researchers at the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART), you will characterize the physical properties and performance of intermediate pharmaceutical drug products. The created methods will be transferred to the industrial partner to enhance their product development process using rheological characterization.

More specific responsibilities include:

The Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) Programme aims to pioneer the development and discovery of new and more effective methods for the treatment, prevention and control of new and emerging pathogens. The laboratory of Immunotherapy in HBV Infection within the EID Programme is focused on the study of immune response of Hepatitis B and the liver microenvironment. The successful candidate will work with Professor Eric Chan on Project Theme 5: Safety, Risk and Nutritional Assessment of alternative protein ingredients under a project on Development of non-animal New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) to innovate Next Generation Risk Assessment (NGRA) based on physiologically based toxicokinetic-toxicodynamic (PBTK-TD) modelling and simulation.

The main responsibilities of the position include:

• Conduct research and development of non-animal in vitro and in silico New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) for Next Generation Risk Assessment (NGRA).
• Lead the design and execution of physiologically based toxicokinetic-toxicodynamic (PBTK-TD) modeling and simulation studies.
• Analyze, interpret, and validate experimental data to develop models predicting toxicokinetic and toxicodynamic behaviors of xenobiotics (food and drug).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., pharmacologists, toxicologists, biostatisticians, regulators) to integrate models with in vitro, in silico and in vivo data.
