Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Assistant for “Cardiovascular Translational Research Programme, Project RESET Theme 2” in Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is widely recognised as the top disease burden locally and internationally, accounting for approximately 30% of local deaths in 2015. Research data has revealed that Singaporeans suffer from the onset of CVD approximately 10 years younger as compared to westerners. Furthermore, the 5-year death rate from heart failure is approximately 50%, which is significantly higher than some well-known cancers. However, despite the threat and adverse impact of CVD, global funding for CVD research lags severely behind Cancer research. Comparatively, in 2018, there was only one drug approved by FDA for CVD versus 16 drugs for Cancer. Therefore, there is a vital need for new medicines and treatment approaches for CVD. Appointments will be made on a contract basis with the possibility of extension.

Purpose of the post

The Research Assistant (RA) will be responsible to, and work closely with, the Principal Investigator and study team members to ensure the successful completion of the trial on time. Our Warehouse Assistant will be responsible for the warehouse management and inventory control, which includes:

• In charge of physical inventories, stocks and warehouse storage
• Issuance of component, stocks and tools, including replenish stocks at refill station
• Receiving of stocks and containers
• Handling inter-company stock transfer, which involves consolidating stock transfer slip and recording them in system
• Arranging for rework and repacking
• Raising requisition for monthly refill station, non-standard item or any adhoc request
• Maintaining the accurate records in excel database and physical stocks
• Conducting inventory stock counts
• Ensuring all goods are stored properly and adhere to organisational standards

• Regular field trips onboard a research vessel (may extend outside conventional office hours)
• Field trip planning and preparation
• Water profiling on research vessel using multiparameter optical sensors
• Water quality analysis in the lab using spectrophotometer
• Cell count in the lab under a microscope
• Cell culture and culture maintenance
• Post processing of data collected
• General maintenance of field trip equipment (preventive maintenance, timely calibration)
• General administrative duties (procurement etc.)

Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience. The appointment will be for a period of one year and extendable depending upon the candidate’s performance.

• Prepare meeting materials for production planning such as line-ups, rundowns and location surveys which includes schedule paperwork and camera scripts for Producers.
• Requistion of props and costumes.
• Ensure that all props and costumes are ready for actual filming.
• Manage talents and crew both in Studio and location filming and see to crowd control.
• Prepare production reports.
• Ensure there is continuity of costumes and props during production.

DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE

Location: 510 Dover Road, Singapore

Description: Full-time Assistant Professor in Department of Computer Science, DigiPen Institute of Technology Singapore. We expect to make an appointment at the Assistant Professor Level or higher, commensurate with the candidate’s academic credentials and prior experience.

Responsibilities:

• While teaching some combination of the above subjects as determined by the selected candidate's unique synthesis of interests, he/she is also expected to teach general computer science subjects (such as operating systems, data structures, design and analysis of algorithms) at the university level. Other responsibilities include academic advising, undergraduate research advising, curriculum development, institutional service and appropriate scholarly activity.

Education and Experience Qualifications:

• PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
• At least 4 years of industry or research experience in the field of study or a closely related area.
• Strong background in one or more following areas: C/C++ programming, Computer Graphics, Computer Architectures, Parallel Processing, Computer Networks, VR/AR, Computer Vision, Data Analysis, Distributed Computation, Cyber Security.
• Work/Teaching experience or exposure to one or more following areas: game/interactive-simulation, AI, machine learning, computer vision, data science, image processing, etc.
• 2D/3D graphic programming (OpenGL or DirectX) is an added advantage.
