As the IT Operations Manager for this project, you will play a critical role in overseeing and managing the operational aspects of our systems deployed in the government's commercial cloud environment. This position requires technical expertise in cloud technologies, and a good understanding of government regulations and compliance standards. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, security, and efficiency of our cloud-based systems while adhering to strict government guidelines.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Cloud Infrastructure Management:
• Manage the day-to-day operation of our government's cloud infrastructure on the Commercial Cloud (GCC) platform.
• Oversee the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of cloud services to meet the needs of government agencies.
• Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of cloud resources to support critical government operations.
Security and Compliance:
• Implement and enforce security best practices to protect government data and systems on GCC.
• Stay updated on government regulations, compliance standards, and security protocols relevant to cloud computing.
• Conduct regular audits and assessments with vendors to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Collaborate with procurement and legal teams to ensure compliance with government procurement policies and procedures.
• Provide support for any system security review and audit activities and implement follow-up actions recommended by auditors/consultants to maintain and enhance the security of the systems.
Performance Monitoring and Optimization:
• Monitor and manage capacity utilisation and performance of Cloud compute resources, virtual appliances and services to identify opportunities for optimisation.
• Implement strategies to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance overall system performance.
• Proactively address issues and implement solutions to mitigate risks and ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
Vendor Management:
• Liaise with cloud service provider and vendors to manage service level agreements (SLAs), and vendor relationships.
• Work with vendors to assess, plan, co-ordinate and implement the appropriate technology changes, updates and refresh when products are reaching end-of-life.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum 3-4 years of experience in managing IT operations for cloud environment.
• Proven experience in managing cloud-based infrastructure, preferably in a government or regulated environment.
• Strong understanding of cloud technologies, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Good knowledge of government regulations, compliance standards (e.g. ICT&SS Management, Digital Service Standards), and security frameworks.
• Experience working with teams in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.

This position may require security clearance and adherence to strict confidentiality protocols due to the sensitive nature of government data and operations. Flexibility in working hours and occasional travel may be required to support system maintenance, upgrades, or emergencies.
