RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Plan and deliver engaging, hands-on art lessons for elementary students in alignment with the school’s curriculum and learning objectives.
2. Introduce students to various art forms, techniques, and media, such as drawing, painting, sculpture, and digital art.
3. Foster an appreciation for art history and cultural diversity through lessons that incorporate artists, styles, and traditions from around the world.
4. Assess and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback to encourage improvement and creativity.
5. Organize and display student artwork in classrooms, hallways, and school exhibitions to celebrate their achievements.
6. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment conducive to creative expression.
7. Manage art supplies and resources, ensuring availability and proper use.
8. Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate art into interdisciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives.
9. Encourage a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that supports all students’ artistic exploration.
10. Stay current on art education trends and best practices to continuously enhance teaching methods.
11. Maintain proper discipline in the classroom and on the school, premises utilizing teacher created discipline plans in conjunction with a school-wide discipline plan.
12. Employ a variety of instructional aides, methods, and materials that will promote best practices in order to reach the whole child, as stated in the ICS mission statement.
13. Lead Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) for students to earn a minimum of three points of ECA credit. This includes planning, organizing, and supervising activities that enhance students' skills, interests, and overall development outside of the regular curriculum
14. Ensure Biblical Worldview Integration throughout the curriculum.
15. Complete lesson/unit plans, Atlas, ESO documentation, and PLC expectations within specified time frames.
16. Plan and lead a student Chapel when called upon.
17. Carry out supervisory recess duty as assigned (before school, break, lunch, after school).
18. Maintain regular and accurate attendance and grade reports that provide comprehensive information for each student’s learning progress. Inform the administration if/when unable to fulfill any duty assigned. Prepare adequate information and materials for a substitute teacher.
19. Communicate with parents, students, and other professional staff regarding student progress (behavioral and academic).
20. Demonstrate the character qualities of enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, integrity, kindness, self-control, perseverance, and punctuality.
QUALIFICATIONS:
● Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field.
â—Ź Teaching certification (as required by state or district regulations).
â—Ź Previous teaching experience, preferably with elementary-aged children.
â—Ź Strong knowledge of art techniques, materials, and art history.
â—Ź Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
â—Ź Creativity, enthusiasm, and a passion for working with children.
â—Ź Maintain teaching credentials as required through sponsoring agencies (state/provincial education department, ACSI, etc.). Acquire and maintain teaching credentials as required by the laws of Singapore, NICS, and/or ICS.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
â—Ź Experience with integrating technology into art lessons.
â—Ź Familiarity with diverse learning needs and adaptive teaching methods.
â—Ź Ability to organize school-wide art events or projects.
