Chinatown Heritage Centre

The Chinatown Heritage Centre is the only place in Singapore that has recreated the original interiors of its shophouse tenants in the 1950s, offering visitors an honest, revealing glimpse into the lives of Chinatown's early residents. Job Responsibilities

The Executive Director will provide the overall leadership in executing the strategic plan for Chinatown Heritage Centre (CHC), and advance various initiatives to drive the success of the Centre as a vibrant heritage hub in the ethnic enclave of Chinatown.

We are most interested in finding the best candidate for the job, and that candidate may come from a less traditional background. 1. Leadership

• Work in partnership with the Board of Directors to oversee all aspects of the institution, sustain its excellence and broaden its impact.
• Create a strong and stable financial foundation for CHC through various revenue, funding, and cost management strategies.
• Chief spokesperson. Represent CHC in professional meetings, development of contracts, and participation in industry events.
• Establish strong partnerships in the community to enhance business opportunities, cross-promotions, and collaborations to expand CHC’s public image.

2. Operations & Programming

• Direct CHC’s operations, including visitor experience, gallery tours, educational programs, public programming, curation and installation of special events, adhoc exhibitions, and managing of retail / event spaces.
• Oversee the management, maintenance, and capital projects of the property, facilities/grounds, and collections of CHC, engaging outside expert advice as necessary.
• Conduct periodic assessment and evaluation of CHC’s in-house programs, public events, and retail offerings

3. Planning & Administration

• Direct and oversee marketing initiatives, including the promotion of CHC through media outreach, press releases, website management, social media, etc.
• Lead, supervise and evaluate performance of museum staff and fulfil staffing requirements of CHC
• Attend board meetings as Executive Director and Overall Administrator of CHC.
• Prepare monthly / annual reports and execute all other reporting requirements as prescribed by the board.

Skills and experience

• Demonstrates a passion and enthusiasm for CHC’s mission and strategic plan, and a willingness to grow the standing of the centre along with the larger Chinatown precinct.
• At least 5 years experience in museums / attractions / space activation / events organisation with strong track record of demonstratable success
• Excellent leadership and effective staff development and organizational skills, in areas such as hiring, coaching, problem solving, empowering staff to provide a positive customer experience.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to build effective relationships both internally and externally. Relate well to people from the events and tourism industry.
• Strong project management skills, with experience in managing P&L, budgeting and financial planning.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee organization’s office services, facility services & facility improvement initiatives
• Supervise & motivate office, facility and outsource in-house facility service teams to ensure daily office, facility and building operations are carried out seamlessly
• Formulate substantiable administrative and facility management strategies, policies and procedures to devise ways in streamlining work processes and reduce cost
• Manage change management and rollout facility optimization initiatives in the office layout and building facility
• Manage premises-based property protection insurance programmes and project bidding insurance programmes
• Manage admin and facilitybudgets and monitor relevant common and dept expensesto meet Company’s budget policy and guidelines
• Ensure strictly compliance on EHS and other stipulated statutory regulations for the running of building services and facility operations
• Manage tenant services related to office services, building services and facility maintenance
• Keep abreast on the latest cost-effective solutions and implement best practices on office, building maintenance and facility improvement projects
• Source and oversee office/facility contracts and supervise service providers for building services such as catering, cleaning & security services
• Plan and implement premises-wide facility maintenance programmes and improvement projects
• Implement corporate facility management improvement programmes in all country offices

Requirements:

• Degree in Facilities Management/Business Administration
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in facility management, office administration, or a related field
• Experience in a supervisory or managerial role is preferred, demonstrating leadership and team management capabilities
• Strong leadership and team management abilities
• Knowledge of facility management best practices and regulations
• Experience in budget management and cost control
• Ability to implement change and manage projects effectively
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Preferably someone with some of these certifications - Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Facility Management Professional (FMP), Project Management Professional (PMP), Occupational Health and Safety certification

Role & Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement retention programs that enhance employee satisfaction and reduce turnover rate.
• Conduct regular surveys and feedback sessions to gather insights on employee engagement and job satisfaction.
• Collaborate with managers to create career development plans and succession pathways for high-potential employees.
• Plan, organize, and execute various company-wide events, including team-building activities, recognition ceremonies, and workshops.
• Foster a positive and inclusive work environment through creative initiatives, team-building exercises, and recognition programs.
• Travel around to visit employees for feedbacks.
• Assist in Talent Acquisition.

Requirements:

• Diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficient in HR software and MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Keep abreast of all relevant laws, regulations and corporate governance requirements including data privacy, Charities Act etc.
• Develop, review, and update compliance policies and procedures. Ensure policies align with the relevant laws and regulations.
• Ensure timely submissions to the relevant authorities.
• Support the Board, Executive Committee, and Audit and Risk Management Committee meetings.
• Support maintenance of the enterprise risk management framework including working with key risk owners and stakeholders to identify new risks and develop/review risk mitigation plans.
• Support management reporting to key stakeholders including the board.
• Manage the scientific publications database and coordinate with key stakeholders on performance monitoring and to prepare presentations and reports to key stakeholders.
• Any other duties assigned by the Reporting Officer.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in law, business, finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in compliance.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with a non-profit organisation or research institution preferred.
