The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Assistants to join our projects in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Our projects are primarily focused on exploring the role of neuroimaging in the clinic, facilitated by quantitative analysis including machine learning, with a focus on neurodegenerative diseases (e.g. Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease), with a small focus on brain tumor imaging. The main objective of our ongoing research is to develop and validate data-driven imaging biomarkers to predict the prognosis of Alzheimer's disease dementia in elderly individuals by harmonizing established Alzheimer's disease research datasets and retrospective local institutional datasets.

The primary responsibilities of the Research Assistant will revolve around data management and administrative tasks, as described below:

Key Responsibilities

Database management and basic analysis:

- Download and integrate imaging and other non-imaging data into our research database.

- Perform basic neuroimaging processing and analysis using our existing R / Python pipeline. The role could extend to pipeline customization if the RA shows an interest and aptitude for image analysis work.

- The role could extend to basic statistical analysis and machine learning tasks using pre-built code, under the guidance of the PI and AI expert research staff, if the RA shows interest and aptitude for the above tasks.

Requirement

• Minimum Secondary school & above
• Candidate with retail experience or jewellery is an added advantage

Candidates are expected to:-

• Take lead in planning and deployment of marine resources;
• Take lead in enforcing marine crew discipline;
• Perform compliance checks to ensure personnel and safety at the base and onboard craft;
• Arrange for daily diesel orders and attend to bunker deliveries;
• Coordinate with Fleet Engineering team on the repair and maintenance status of harbour crafts and equipment;
• Update daily records of craft movements, deployment, and craft breakdowns;
• Perform regular checks and surveys on the status and upkeep of base equipment; and
• Assist Section Managers in operational assignments and projects.

The ideal candidate should preferably:-

• Possess at least a Diploma in Engineering (Marine) / Maritime Business / Business / Logistics and Supply Chain Management;
• Have good communication and interpersonal skills;
• Be able to remain calm and make logical decisions under stress and emergency situations;
• Be proficient in using computer and mobile device applications/systems;
• Be proficient in MS Office; and
• Be willing to perform shift work (Candidates will be entitled to shift and applicable allowances).

*Monthly salary advertised is basic salary. Monthly gross salary includes shift, special transport, and meal allowances, where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Must be able to handle Full Set of Accounts independently for 3 companies
• Handle accounts receivable and issue invoices timely
• Perform day-to-day accounting activities, maintain records & data entry
• Perform month-end closing
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and monthly/annual stock count
• Compile and analyse financial information for Manager review
• GST preparation & submission
• Familiar with the use of AutoCount system
• Any ad-hoc duties as assigned from time to time

Job Requirements

• Diploma or degree in Finance or Accounting
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience with full sets of accounts
• Good knowledge of accounting concepts and double entries
• High degree of accuracy and attention to details with an analytical acumen
• Independent, well organized, have an open mindset and a strong team player
