The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Assistant position in Dr Mohammad Alfatah’s lab, part of Healthy Longevity Translational Research Programme, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The lab focuses on discovering anti-aging interventions to delay ageing and chronic disease onset, increase healthspan and improve life quality. Purpose of the post

The Research Assistant (RA) will be responsible to and work closely with Dr Mohammad Alfatah to provide support in research projects with a specific focus on discovering chemical (drugs, natural products, metabolites, etc) and genetic anti-aging interventions. This includes assessing the effectiveness of potential compounds in various age-related disease models.

He/she would be the point of contact between staff, external parties (i.e. stakeholders, collaborators) and the PI. He/she will work with a team of researchers and admin staff on a regular basis to assist with research projects.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

This is a regular full-time position of which the contract is renewable, subject to performance.

The key job responsibilities are as follow:

1. Assist with research administration to ensure that research and related activities are performed in accordance with institutional regulations and sponsoring agency policies and procedures, including preparation of ethics and other regulatory/institutional documents and maintenance of PI file as required.
2. Assist with research activities led/appointed by the PI such as study management, monitoring and tracking study budget and timelines, answering questions related to the study and working with other researchers/PIs.
3. Provide administrative support to the PI.
4. Procure or acquire materials needed for research and liaise with vendors.
5. Assist with data collection or analysis as required in BISI research projects.
6. Perform other related duties incidental to the work or as assigned by the leadership.

Qualifications

The applicant should:

• A good degree in any relevant discipline
• Relevant experience within an academic or healthcare setting is advantageous.
• Working knowledge in research ethics and HBRA is advantageous.
• Experience with research project management
• Excellent command of spoken and written English.

The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Assistant for “Identifying Transcriptomic and Epigenomic Impacts of Type-2 Diabetes on Aortic Arteries with Single-Cell Resolution” in the Department of Biomedical Informatics, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The Genomic Data Science Lab combines QTL, single-cell, and spatial transcriptomic approaches to unravel the molecular mechanisms of polygenic diseases. Purpose of the post

The successful candidate will work with Dr. Boxiang Liu on the development of novel computational models and the analysis of single-cell and spatial transcriptomics data.

The Research Assistant will be responsible for bioinformatics data analysis and report directly to the Principal Investigator (PI). The RA will be able to:

• Perform single-cell and single-nucleus RNA-seq analysis;
• Conduct spatial transcriptomic data analysis;
• Design novel statistical methods for single-cell and spatial transcriptomic data;
