Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Oracle Database SME/Database developer to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, and administration of Oracle databases, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. As an SME, you will provide expert guidance and support on database-related projects, as well as mentor junior team members.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Database Design and ImplementationDesign, implement, and maintain Oracle database solutions based on business requirements and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure efficient integration of applications with the database.
- Database AdministrationPerform routine database administration tasks, including backups, restores, and patching.
- Monitor and optimize database performance, ensuring scalability and responsiveness.
- Security and ComplianceImplement and enforce security measures to protect sensitive data within the Oracle databases.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and organizational security policies.
- Troubleshooting and Issue ResolutionInvestigate and resolve database-related issues promptly, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Provide expertise in performance tuning and optimization.
- Database Upgrades and MigrationsPlan and execute database upgrades and migrations as required.
- Evaluate new Oracle releases and features for potential integration.
- DocumentationMaintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and processes.
- Create and update documentation for database-related projects.
- Collaboration and TrainingCollaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and provide database-related solutions.
- Mentor and train junior database administrators and team members.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5-12 years of experience in Oracle database administration and/or development.
- Good knowledge on database architecture & design.
- Experience supporting a 24x7 high-availability production systems will be advantageous.
- Ability to work independently, as well as in a team with minimal supervision.
- Must have strong verbal and written communications skills to interact with team members and functional analysts on daily basis.
Qualifications:
- Bachelorās Degree in computer science or related field.
- Proven experience as a database administrator and programmer on Oracle.
- Strong understanding of database design principles.
- Experience with database performance tuning and optimization.
- Knowledge of database security and compliance requirements.
- Effective communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in Oracle database administration or programming.
- Experience with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS).
- Familiarity with database migration and replication technologies.
