An integral part of Singapore’s “City in a Garden” vision, Gardens by the Bay spans a total of 101 hectares of prime land at the heart of Singapore’s new downtown – Marina Bay. Comprising three waterfront gardens – Bay South, Bay East and Bay Central – Gardens by the Bay will be a showcase of horticulture and garden artistry that will bring the world of plants to Singapore and present Singapore to the World. RESPONSIBILITIES
You will be part of a multidisciplinary design and development team comprising of architects, landscape and graphic designers, and horticulturists. As an experienced designer, you will partake in and be expected to independently produce innovative and integrated design solutions across various design disciplines, including 3D event/display design, experiential design, marketing communication, wayfinding signage, etc.
You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to realise the desired outcomes and to bring Gardens by the Bay (GB)' visions to life and contribute to the growth of this worldclass destination.
Key responsibilities:
- Event/Display Design to support Changing Floral Displays and outdoor programs: research, conceptualise and design in 3D for different types of displays/events. The design shall be able to draw up plans and technical drawings in AutoCad, assess the site conditions, prepare the tender package for purpose of procurement, coordinate and work with the operation team and the production vendors/contractors to implement spatial design for displays/events within the approved budget.
- Signage/Graphic design: generate creative design proposals that respond to the specific requirements and reflect the GB's branding while ensuring the highest standards of functionality, sustainability, and aesthetics befitting this worldclass destination. Proficient in conceptualising and creating key visuals for display events and ad hoc projects, ensuring a cohesive and visually appealing representation. Responsible for overseeing and maintaining a consistent visual aesthetic at GB, ensuring alignment with established standards. Accountable for ongoing communication and coordination with vendors to uphold the desired visual integrity across the venue.
- Stakeholder management: Accurately interpret project brief requirements, understand visual communication objectives, interpret the ideas into photorealistic 3D rendering with good lighting effect (and animation if possible), be proactive in engaging stakeholders, understanding their needs and aspirations, and ensure that the design solutions align with their goals and preferences.
- Visual Communication: be well versed in design visualisation software and tools to create 3D models, renderings, and presentations to communicate design ideas effectively to management and internal stakeholders.
- Collaborative and Creative Workplace: Proactively engage your peers to ideate and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, to deliver integrated design solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in Event/Exhibition Design, Interior Design, Visual Communications, Digital Arts, or relevant discipline
- Minimum 5 years relevant postgraduate design experience in exhibition and graphic design with a portfolio showing relevant projects. Experience in attraction design will be a bonus
- Strong sense of composition, realism, texture, colour, lighting, and attention to detail
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Sketchup/3D, and other relevant tools. Proficiency in Computational design, data visualisation tool such as tableau will be a bonus
- Background or familiarity with horticulture and the use of plant materials in designs will be a bonus
- Self-motivated candidates who can proactively drive their own projects
- Ability to work in a group setting and /or independently and multi-task under challenging deadlines
- Strong team-working, communication and interpersonal skills. Able to build good working relationships with peers and stakeholders
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively. Naturally sociable, approachable and possesses a delightful sense of humour
