Job Purpose
This position is responsible for providing the safety and supervision of the residents throughout their sleep hours.
Responsibilities
• To be attentive and look into the wellbeing of residents by being available and to be accountable for the residents’ whereabouts when on duty.
• To provide close supervision and maintain discipline of the residents.
• To engage and develop positive relationships with residents.
• To support in developing positive characteristics and personalities of residents.
• To provide emotional support to residents should the need arise.
• To promote a safe and positive living environment/culture in residents through the day to day interactions.
• To manage residents’ behaviour and infringements in a positive and nurturing manner.
• To be responsible for the upkeep of the program facility such as ensuring facilities are locked, lights are off etc.
• To complete assigned documentation and tracking of attendance.
• To compile a list of appointments for the following day and inform the morning Duty Officer.
• To conduct frequent hourly (minimum) checks on the residents after lights off and take attendance.
• To ensure that residents are dressed appropriately for school (Uniform, Socks, Shoes, Haircut)
• To wake up residents in the morning daily.
• To conduct supervision of morning routines for the school day.
• To monitor unwell residents’ condition.
• To dispense medication to residents in the morning and ensure that proper documentation of medication is kept.
• To carry out any administrative work timely and accurately.
• To ensure that the Operations Centre is operational and ready for the next Duty Officer e.g. charging of Duty Officer’s handphone, general housekeeping etc.
• To brief the next Duty Officer during the process of handling over duty.
• To respond to any emergency in the middle of the night and update relevant stakeholders.
• To participate actively and take ownership of primary/secondary portfolios assigned by Head, Residential Services.
• To work in close collaboration with the other staff of the Home and of the other components of Boys’ Town in matters pertaining to the welfare of the residents.
• To support in implementing the relevant model of care/ services in accordance to the needs and profile of the residents
Requirements
• GCE O Levels / NITEC/ Diploma in Counselling, Psychology.
• Able to work on weekends and public holidays, between the hours of 11pm to 7am primarily.
• Able to work independently and in a team, possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Possess situational awareness at all times when working with youths.
