OVERVIEW
The Cook assists the Centre Leader/ Deputy Centre Leader in marketing of groceries, preparation and handling of food and cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. MARKETING OF GROCERIES
a) Buys food and other necessities for the preparation of food and cooking of lunch, morning snack and afternoon tea for the centre’s children each working day.
2. PREPARATION AND HANDLING OF FOOD
a) Prepares morning snack, lunch and afternoon tea according to prescribed menus and recipes provided by Centre Leader/ Deputy Centre Leader.
b) Prepares drinks or snacks for visitors and guests to the centre as instructed by Centre Leader/ Deputy Centre Leader.
c) Uses disposable apron and gloves when preparing and handling food.
d) Keeps cooked food in warmers.
e) Trolleys food to classrooms.
f) Follows closely hygienic and safety standard guidelines set by relevant government ministries and agencies in preparing and handling of food.
3. CLEANLINESS AND HYGIENE
a) Keeps the cooking area and the kitchen clean, reasonably dry most of the time.
b) Keep the refrigerator and freezer clean and in operable condition.
c) Cleans and sanitises pots, pans, cooking utensils, cups, plates, spoons, forks after each meal and ensures that it is kept in safe and good condition.
d) Performs side duties including cleaning of store room, cleaning of stove, emptying trash, taking trash to the dumpster, scrubbing trash bin with soap.
