The Research Office oversees research at the University, with a commitment to research excellence and positive societal impact. The office devises and implements research strategy whilst addressing Singapore’s national priorities. We also develop research-related policies and coordinate research-related operations at the university level. The incumbent plays a leading role in driving and implementing research strategies and initiatives, principal coordinator across multiple university departments and academic entities to develop the administrative instruments necessary to ensure the delivery of strategic research / initiative outcomes, and lead the administrative functions of the Research Office.

The responsibilities of this role are:

• Drive key strategic initiatives together with Associate Vice Presidents of the Research office and Centre Directors of University-level research centres.
• Oversee risk and governance of university-level research centres. Review resercarch agreements involving overseas collaboration partners to establish if further risk assessment is required; and to see through risk assessment and the development of mitigation measures.
• Provide support to research strategies and initiatives including gathering, mapping, and analysing research expertise, proposals, meeting briefs / minutes, supporting research collaborations, coordinating review, and coordinating visits / workshops.
• Work synergistically with stakeholders to coordinate the formulation and development of policy and procedural papers in relation to the implementation of new initiatives and/or revision of existing policies/guidelines that guide research activity across the University.
• Enable oversight of Research Office on university-level research centres, establishing a coordinated and integrated process among the various departments such as Human Resource, Finance and IT in harmonizing the list of research institutes between regulation and systems.
• Facilitate the process of opening new university-level research centers and/or close research centre.
• Using analytics to review the performance of research centres and recommend improvements.
• Work closely with Finance to review budget submissions.
• Part of the working committee to review new space requests, renewals, and keep an oversight of newly big-funded projects requiring space.

The ideal candidate will need to have the following qualities and experience:

• A minimum of a Master’s degree, preferably Ph.D. degree with R&D background in a field relevant to organization’s focus area.
• Additional certifications in Leadership, Project Management, or related areas could be advantageous.
• At least 5-10 years of experience in a leadership or management role within a research, academic, or similar setting, demonstrating a track record of strategic planning and successful project delivery.
• Proven experience in influencing and collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders and research teams.
• Ability to see the big picture, formulate strategies, and translate them into actionable plans.
• Exceptional ability to communicate clearly and persuasively, both in writing (e.g., drafting whitepapers and guidelines, making slides) and verbally, across different levels of the organization.

Job Summary

The Director/Assistant Director of Marketing Communications (MarComms) is

responsible for shaping and executing MTFA’s communications, branding, and public

engagement strategy. This role focuses on enhancing MTFA’s visibility, reputation,

and outreach through effective storytelling and brand positioning. Reporting to the

CMO, the Director/AD of MarComms will lead the Publicity and Corporate

Communications teams to ensure consistent, impactful messaging that aligns with

MTFA’s mission, values, and strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

● Brand Strategy & Management

○ Develop and implement a comprehensive branding strategy that

strengthens MTFA’s identity and resonates with key stakeholders,

including beneficiaries, donors, and the community.

○ Ensure MTFA’s messaging and visual identity are consistent across all

channels, supporting a unified brand presence.

○ Oversee brand positioning and reputation management efforts to

enhance MTFA’s visibility and credibility as a leading charitable

organization.

● Public Relations & Media Outreach

○ Lead the Publicity team in managing media relations, securing press

coverage, and promoting MTFA’s work in both local and international

media.

○ Develop and nurture relationships with media partners, journalists, and

influencers to increase public awareness of MTFA’s mission and

impact.

○ Serve as MTFA’s primary spokesperson, handling media inquiries and

representing the organization in interviews, events, and other

public-facing opportunities.

● Corporate Communications

○ Oversee the Corporate Communications team to ensure effective

● Digital & Social Media Strategy

management of content for social media, the website, email

newsletters, and other digital platforms.

strengthen community connections.

○ Monitor digital trends and analytics to refine digital strategies, optimize

audience engagement, and enhance MTFA’s online presence.

● Campaign Development & Execution

○ Plan and execute integrated marketing campaigns that highlight

MTFA’s programs, initiatives, and events to relevant audiences.

○ Work closely with the Fundraising team (RevOps) to support

fundraising campaigns, ensuring that messaging aligns with MTFA’s

brand while maintaining distinct responsibilities.

○ Measure and evaluate campaign performance, making data-driven

● Stakeholder Engagement & Community Relations

○ Develop and implement strategies for engaging MTFA’s diverse

stakeholders, including donors, partners, volunteers, and the

community, to foster strong, long-term relationships.

alignment with the organization’s goals and values.

○ Provide support to other MTFA departments by creating tailored

● Cross-functional Collaboration

○ Collaborate closely with the Director/AD of RevOps to align marketing

and communications strategies with revenue objectives while

messaging.

● Leadership & Team Development

○ Provide mentorship and guidance to the Publicity and Corporate

○ Identify and address skill gaps within the MarComms team,

Qualifications

● Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public

Relations, or a related field. Master’s degree or relevant certifications are a

plus.

setting.
