THE ROLE:

The SEMI Foundation is seeking an experienced Program Director, Global Workforce Development with excellent leadership, organizational and communications skills to work with Foundation leadership to conceive, support, organize, promote, and implement effective workforce development initiatives across SEMI’s global Asia-Pacific regions. We are looking for a seasoned professional who has a keen understanding of workforce development in the semiconductor industry, particularly in Taiwan, Korea, Japan, China, Southeast Asia, and India and who is eager to contribute to both building programs and shifting an industry toward more inclusive and equitable hiring and retention. The Director will be responsible for coordinating strategies, partnerships and programs that: identify and facilitate the awarding of public and private funding for workforce development; expand and strengthen industry image and awareness initiatives; support and expand training programs; and support SEMI member companies in their efforts to attract, hire, train, and retain a larger and more diverse workforce.

The Director will grow and oversee a portfolio of regionally based workforce development partnerships and networks that support training and career awareness programs, coordinating programmatic activities with employers and partners. This person will work with the Foundation team in designing and realizing broader strategic goals, such as incubating pilot programs, identifying synergies among programs and regions, and building the SEMI Foundation’s capacity to serve and support workers and employers worldwide.

The Director will work in close collaboration with a wide range of external stakeholders, including employers and industry consortia, training providers, secondary and post-secondary education, community-based organizations, and government agencies. The successful candidate will bring significant strategic leadership, project management, organizational, and interpersonal skills to the table. The Director will be able to align organizations in the private and public sectors to leverage resources and to create partnerships that support employers participating in training collaboratives and other programs.

The ideal candidate is self-managed but able to work as part of team; highly collaborative and willing to be transparent about their work process and generous in sharing their knowledge; brings expertise, humility, and curiosity to the work in equal measure, and has superior communication skills.

This is a full-time position which reports to the Executive Director, Worldwide Education and Talent Initiatives.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

· Extensive experience in and keen understanding of the workforce development field, including managing industry-led, worker-centric programs with multiple partners across the workforce networks

· Experience in strategic and project planning, project implementation, and coordination of organizations to drive consensus and meet project goals

· Knowledge of regional workforce development boards in various global regions

· Knowledge of public and private funding opportunities in global SEMI regions

· Capacity to oversee and facilitate meetings with individuals at all levels of management and responsibility

· Excellent organizational skills

· Highly developed written and oral communication skills; high comfort and facility in developing presentations and public speaking

· High cultural competence and understanding of cultural norms in SEMI’s global regions

· Working knowledge of the primary and secondary educational systems and institutions

· Availability to travel internationally (roughly 30% of time) on a regular basis with prior approval while maintaining a self-imposed work schedule without direct supervision

· Working familiarity with organizational contracts, budgets, project plans, and proposals for funding opportunities

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Experience in proposal writing and/or management

· Experience working in global regions, particularly with government agencies

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· In collaboration with Foundation leadership, oversee the design, development, and implementation of workforce development programs in the SEMI and SEMI Foundation portfolios in regions across the globe

· Coordinate and connect workforce development staff across SEMI Asia-Pacific regions; identify synergies, leverage resources, and working with SEMI, SEMI Foundation and SEMI Europe, build and support a global WFD network

· Support regional WFD leads in Identifying, researching, analyzing, and managing requests for WFD and SEMI Foundation programs in new regions and with member companies; negotiate and finalize funding opportunities

· Work collaboratively with SEMI Foundation partners to build the capacity of employers, workforce systems, and educational institutions to strengthen and enhance training programs

· Serve as a thought partner on the leadership team to help inform the growth of Foundation programs and initiatives; meet regularly with industry, government, and workforce leaders to build relationships and expand opportunities

· Ensure the integration of other SEMI programs, as appropriate, into new workforce development initiatives

· Interface with government agencies to build relationships, provide thought partnership, and advocate for microelectronics workforce development and the inclusion of SEMI and SEMI Foundation efforts and resources into new and existing programs

· Oversee the gathering of strategic information for Industry Needs Assessments regarding the evolving workforce development needs and limitations to growth in industry companies

· Ensure that diversity, equity, and inclusion practices are operationalized in every facet of workforce development initiatives with the direct goal of attracting and recruiting underrepresented populations

· Monitor progress on programs to ensure milestones and outcomes are met

· Higher education degree or relevant experience

· 5-8+ years of workforce development experience in management and leadership

Job Description

The Director is a lead to steward the business and deliver against client objectives and satisfaction. He or she serves as the senior contact and will drive quality control, approving communication strategies, plans and key tactics delivered by the team across online and offline planning.

• Hones feasibility, profitability and negotiation skills through implementation and management of plans, working with Trading team to drive best prices and terms to maximize effectiveness of placement’s reach to client’s consumers.
• Serves as first level coach and supervisor to one or more associates to support their knowledge of agency, client, vendor and industry basics as well as their overall skill development in the execution or monitoring of experience plans. Provide staff with ongoing feedback and manage annual Evaluation as well as constantly evaluating resource allocations.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in a media agency/client side background

RESPONSIBILITIES

Public Awareness & Marketing Communications

• Manage the website and social media platforms. Track, analyse and generate reports, propose, implement and execute ideas and strategies
• Strategize and effectively execute integrated marketing and communications campaigns across PR and social media, digital marketing, and event management, helping to increase brand awareness, generate leads, raise sponsorship and build community engagement. You will provide marketing direction and ideas for campaigns
