Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Perform front end engineering design (FEED) and basic design for Electrical system of renewable energy projects, e.g. Solar (Roof top, ground mounted and floating), Battery Energy Storage (BESS) projects, Wind projects and mix of Solar, BESS, Wind projects including configuration study.
- Provide technical expertise to develop electrical engineering design deliverables (e.g. SLDs, Layouts, equipment list, load list, datasheets, specifications, electrical protection systems and sizing calculation etc.) for Solar, BESS, Wind, and other projects for Electrical system.
- Review inter-disciplines design/ engineering with consideration for safety, interfacing, quality, performance, reliability, flexibility of operation with optimal project and life cycle cost.
- Support Project-In-charge for over-seeing contractors / vendors for on-site electrical works and accountable for updated and accurate records of all electrical systems
- Conduct engineering activities during business or project development including but not limited to pre-feasibility/ feasibility studies, technical due diligence, electrical layouts, electrical schematics, protection coordination, review of power system studies (short circuit, load flow, earthing, stability etc.)
- Preparation of technical proposal to customer, project / EPC scoping strategy, vendor selection (bid review, technical clarification and bid evaluation), carried out cost estimation, determine LCOE, and all related technical support a etc.
- Stay up to date with advancements in Electrical, Solar, BESS, Wind power technology, Evaluation of new technology and innovative solutions e.g. competitive alternatives to SF6 insulated GIS, etc.
- Participate in engineering activities during project execution including but not limited to preparation of Scope of Work / Design Memorandum / Minimum Functional Specification, tender review on technical proposals and clarifications, attend site queries and site installation issues that related to design, pre-commissioning, testing and commissioning, PSSR etc.
- Attend FAT/SAT and Functional testing to ensure electrical equipment is meeting the design intent & project premise.
- Participate in HAZOP, QRA, EIA, SPD studies. Liaise with LEW for system studies and other regulatory requirements.
- Review and approval of detailed design documents submitted by Contractors and ensure compliance with Engineering Standards, company & industry best practices.
- Establish system and documentation for company engineering standards & specification, ITP, approved vendor/manufacturer list, material specifications, discipline’s schedule of rates and cost estimate template, engineering checklists etc.
- Ensure all activities carried out are in full compliance to all regulatory and authority requirement of Singapore and other SEA countries (Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam etc.) i.e. Energy Market Authority Act, Electricity Act and local Code of Practices during execution of Engineering Design.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
- At least 8-15 years of experience in Solar and BESS Electrical design, energy business related engineering management and project management (engineering and construction).
- Well verse of Solar resource assessment, PVsyst software, BESS sizing techniques, software and tools (Homer etc.).
- Experience in other renewable energy projects, especially Wind, CCU is preferred.
- Knowledge of Power system studies software (ETAP etc) is desirable.
- Have a passion and experience in areas related to energy transition and infrastructure
