Job Responsibilities:

• Manage and handle employee’s records, payroll, claim and leave via Info-Tech System, including leave type entry, entitlement, application, certificate collection & approval and daily employee’s attendance
• Responsible for work pass administration such as work pass applications, renewal, cancellation and issuance

Position Summary:

The Technical Project Manager, or known as Engineering Delivery Manager within Thales, is responsible for leading his team to the completion of engineering tasks within committed budgets, schedules, quality and performance for successful bids and projects delivery. He coordinates and monitors the implementation of all engineering tasks throughout the whole life cycle of a bid/project.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure engineering activities are well managed within constraints of bids/projects, approved architecture, design policy, contracts, and company quality requirements.
• Lead collaborative discussion and co-engineering between internal teams, vendors and customers to analyse, prioritise and validate stakeholders' requirements.
• Ensure that engineering scope, plans and activities satisfy customer requirements, and are delivered on time, on budget and with the required quality.
• Work closely with Design Authority to oversee and approve the outcome of evaluation studies on design alternatives, and to provide advice to both the customer and internal technical teams.
• Through broad consultation, ensure the production of the required documentation in support of the project, to the satisfaction of the customer and internal senior management.
• Liaise with customers on technical, architectural and procedural issues as required, ensure that scope creep is avoided.
• Define the engineering work breakdown structure, project organisation structure, tasks schedule, engineering KPIs, and associated engineering tasks. Tailor as required and ensure all baseline requirements are met.
• Define the strategy for development, build increments, validation, and project commissioning.
• Follow up closely on defined KPIs and ensure issues discovered (such as risks of changes, schedule, anomalies, etc) are addressed promptly according to different project phases.
• Perform periodic reporting to internal senior management and customer according to Thales methodology (Chorus) and common methods such as SAFe/SCRUM.
• Ensure the implementation of multi-project synergies and lessons learnt, in order to optimize cost of technical solutions.
• Manage engineering risks & opportunities during bids and project phase, guarantees programme commitments, including those flown down to subcontractors and partners.
• Optimise technical work against costs, schedule and risks from design to validation and acceptance of the solution.
• Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed, in conjunction with the functional Engineering Head or Director.
• Manages Work Package Managers (WPM) and Integration Verification, Validation and Qualification (IVVQ) Manager to ensure successful completion of respective milestones.
• Other duties as directed by the Project Manager or functional Engineering Head.

Essential Requirements:

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics Engineering or related discipline
• Experience working within a Systems Engineering lifecycle
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a Senior Engineering role
• Experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams
• Experience in IT/security/C2/defence related projects from a Systems Engineering perspective
• Good knowledge on how large projects are managed
• Strong oral and written communications skills
• Strong liaison and stakeholders management skills
• Strong motivation to be involved in all phases of a project life cycle, from bids to project completion

The School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE) invites applications for the position of Research Fellow. 

The Research Fellow will conduct both experimental and numerical research to develop more efficient lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) with enhanced thermoresponse capability

Key Responsibilities: 

• Development of new LIB fabrication, electrochemical characterization and thermal characterization facilities

• Development of new composite phase change materials (PCM) with enhanced thermoregulation capabilities for LIB and associated fabrication facilities

• Carry out LIB and composite PCM fabrication and perform electrochemical and thermal characterization of new libs

• Develop numerical models and/or analytical formulations to predict electro-thermo process in conventional and new libs

• Work closely with other graduate students and researchers on experimental and numerical investigations

• Assisting the preparation of the necessary research reports and technical papers

• Work closely with researchers, graduate and undergraduate students performing research such as URECA or final year projects

• Assist the Principal Investigator (PI) and his co-investigators in the supervision of graduate and undergraduate students in the research team, and perform all related assignments and studies as directed by the PI from time to time

Job Requirements: 

• PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, or related field

• Experience and expertise in composite phase change materials, lithium-ion battery fabrication and characterization, design and experimentation of lithium-ion battery thermal management.

• Experience in carrying out lithium-ion battery (LIB) fabrication and LIB electrochemical and thermal characterization

• Experience in developing LIB fabrication and electrochemical characterization facilities

• Experience in heat transfer experiments and measurements related to composite phase change materials

• Relevant knowledge in material development related to LIB components including separators, electrodes and electrolytes

• Expertise in numerical simulation and analytical formulations of electro-thermo processes in LIBs

• Proficiency in written and spoken English

• Provide on-site quality surveillance for process piping and gas lines distribution system installations to ensure compliance with project specifications throughout the installation process
• Ensure welding works are performed with correct and approved welding procedure specifications and by qualified welders
• Perform quality inspection, testing, and certification for process piping and gas distribution systems, and document the results
• Report quality problems or findings to the installation contractor for corrective action.
• Provide progress updates of inspection and testing to the project manager per a pre-defined frequency
• Ensure adequate safety precautions and housekeeping are implemented while performing quality control tasks at all times.
• Participate in root cause analysis led by customer or main contractor to resolve repeated occurrences of quality problems or continuous improvement program
• Operate and maintain technology-driven inspection instruments following the original equipment manufacturer’s user manual
