Novel high protein foods: Optimising nutrition and safety

Mycotoxins and Microbiota: Determining how the human gut microbiota may increase or decrease the dangers of mycotoxins in food

Aim: To quantify mycotoxins in fecal material and in material from in-vitro fecal fermentations and explore how gut microbiota inter-convert mycotoxins into safer or more dangerous forms. The candidate will also explore how variance in gut microbial communities within the Singapore population impacts mycotoxin metabolism. Overall, this project would lead to better understand the risks posed by different mycotoxins in Singapore. This project would suit someone with existing bio-informatic experience.

The National University of Singapore invites applications for the position of Research Assistant for the project entitled “Characterisation of C6orf15 as a marker for epithelial mesenchymal transition and lymph node metastasis in colorectal cancer” within the Department of Surgery, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Purpose of the post

The Research Assistant will assist the PI in setting up the aforementioned project, and will be involved in basic and advanced cell culture and molecular biology techniques. The Research Assistant will form the nucleus of a new group with the PI.

Main duties and responsibilities

The RA will receive regular direct supervision by the PI. While prior experience working in a laboratory environment would be valuable for this position, this is not critical, as specific molecular biology techniques will be taught by the PI.
