Main Tasks and Responsibilities

This position is responsible for managing claim agent business for Japanese insurer, claim team for Japanese clients and risk engineering service in Singapore and Asia/Oceania region.

Mainly managing marine cargo claims, but also taking full responsibility of any matters of clients including risk engineering, loss control and claims.

• Formulate and establish strategic goals for Overseas Claims (both OIF (Offshore Insurance Fund) and SHF (Shareholder Fund) & Risk Engineering, and communicate the business vision and goals to the team members for implementation.
• Lead, direct and manage all activities of the Overseas Claims & Risk Engineering teams to achieve maximum effectiveness in the implementation of initiatives and the achievement of team objectives.
• Make concrete recommendations to minimize loss ratio, such as loss prevention survey for General Cargo and risk engineering for Property and Casualty Insurance.
• Recommending and setting reserve and settlement authorities for Overseas Claims team members
• Manage and monitor the investigation, litigation, disposition and settlement of claims, in compliance with corporate claim settlement policies and procedures and statutory, regulatory and ethics requirements.
• Manage the overall quality assurance of claims service delivery and identify opportunities that lead to higher customer satisfaction and better resource utilization.
• Develop, implement and maintain an overall manpower plan for Overseas Claims / Risk Engineering staffs that will increase staff productivity, flexibility, skills and knowledge enhancements so that the teams can respond rapidly to changing business and customer needs, and be capable and confident of handling more complex issues.
• Coordinate with Operations Team and other team leads to ensure efficient working of Overseas Claims & Risk Engineering Departments.
• Developing new engineering service
• Claim audit for Sompo Entities in Asia/Oceania region

Qualifications & Experience

• Experience in General Insurance business, specially marine claim for Japanese clients at least 10 years using the Japanese language
• This position requires to liaise and report, collaborate to Japan Headquarters and handling Japanese clients in Asia/Oceania and Japan, therefore proficiency in Japanese is a must.
• Familiar with Marine claim and Risk Engineering/Loss Control activities
