The Methodist Missions Society (MMS) is the missions agency of The Methodist Church in Singapore (MCS). MMS seeks to establish indigenous churches supported by mission endeavors in communities across our region.

We have a vacancy for Regional Director (MMS).

Responsibilities and Duties

• Lead and care for the assigned field teams of MMS.
• Provide consultative and leadership guidance to Country Directors (CDs), field teams and Country Coordinators (CCOs) in the formulation and implementation of approved field strategies, goals, and budget to achieve the established goals.
• Ensure that the effective organization structures are in place in the assigned field.
• Together with CDs help build competent field teams to carry out the work effectively as well as plan and oversee leadership transitions on the assigned field.
• Implement community development initiatives and plant new indigenous and disciple-making churches together with the CD.
• Initiate dialogues with national church Pastors and leaders concerning the movement toward self‐sustainability.
• Report regularly on the progress of the work in the field and the implementation status of approved plans and projects.
• Ensure that effectiveness of funds budgeted/deployed to fulfil the mission through close monitoring together with the CD and CCO.
• Ensure compliance with governance as provided in MCS and MMS policies.
• Participate in the Church engagement group and governance groups in deliberating policy issues and compliance matters.
• Organize intentional training and coaching for national pastors and lay leaders in consultation with the training committee.
• Support Field Director (FD) and CD in developing human resources in the assigned mission fields.
• Mentor, coach and develop CDs, national leaders and CCOs.
• Lead and care for the respective field teams with the help of the CD, support group or individuals from MMS and partner Churches.
• Visit the fields as necessary to engage, encourage and empower our missionaries and national leaders.
• Assist MMS and MCS in special projects or events as assigned by Executive Director (ED).
• Participates in ad-hoc projects/tasks as assigned by the ED and/or Bishop (e.g. Aldersgate events).
• Preach/teach at churches and/or small groups.
• Any other adhoc projects/tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Job Requirements

• Possess a theological degree from a college recognized by MMS.
• At least 7 years of ministry experience related to Christian missions in South East Asia region.
• Strong spoken and written communication skills are required to collaborate with various key stakeholders.
• Able to communicate effectively across many levels of committees headed by clergy and laity.
• Able to work well independently and under challenging timelines.
• Good project management knowledge in planning, implementation and monitoring.
• Good business and financial knowledge.
• Proficient in MS Office Application (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Provide frontline customer service and perform patients’ registration at the counter.
• Handle phone calls and inquiries.
• Assist in scheduling and rescheduling of appointments.
• Dispense of medications.
• Liaise with patients and family members and educate on follow up.
• Handle payment collection and basic administrative duties.
• Assist the doctor in clinical tests and minor procedures (training will be provided).

Preventive programme

• Support department in conducting small and large group psycho-educational sessions for students and staff on mental health issues and healthy coping strategies.

Responsive services

• Provide individual and group counselling to students.
• Conference with staff, parents and external professionals and agencies on students being counselled, and conduct home visits where necessary.
• Look into the referral of students and their families to community resources or external professionals, where needed.
• Provide psychological crisis intervention and follow-up to students affected by critical incidents.
• Maintain case consultation records and proper documentation
• Provide regular updates to school management on the progress of students being seen for counselling.

Requirements

• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Preferably at least one year of full-time work experience in teaching, counselling or volunteering with children and youths.
• A university degree with professional counselling qualifications, such as a Postgraduate Diploma or a master’s degree in counselling; or relevant counselling qualification from a recognized University.
• Proficient in professional counselling approaches and tools to help clients with diverse issues and conditions, including case conceptualisation and assessment.

Advantageous

· Have a psychology degree from a recognized University.

· Have experience in handling clinical mental health cases.

· Have knowledge in areas that affect the development of the child and assessment tools utilised to evaluate and diagnose disorders.

· Have knowledge in special education needs (SEN) assessment and work with children with SEN.
