The Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART) Centre invites applications for Postdoctoral Associate positions in the area of crystallization science and particle engineering. The successful candidate will be expected to work on the design and engineering of advanced microparticle-based pharmaceutical drug products comprising soft (polymer/hydrogel) matrices containing crystalline drug particles, typically made using microfluidic methods. This work will be conducted in close collaboration with a consortium of pharmaceutical companies (GSK, Merck and Pfizer). He/she will be reporting to Prof. Patrick S. Doyle (MIT, SMART) and Prof Saif A. Khan (NUS, SMART) and work with their team of researchers and collaborators.

Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be working closely with CAMP researchers and industry collaborators to develop a high-throuhgput process to manufacture engineered particles.

Principal duties are

• Generate various pharmecutical particles using microfluidics devices.

• Perform appropriate analysises to characterize the engineered particles.

• Perform materials testing experiments.

• Understand a process scale-up in order to translate the technology into an industrial domain.

• Prepare reports for industrial sponors.

Requirements

Position Overview:

We are looking for a wet-lab Research Assistant, who has experience in working with mice models and performing molecular and cellular experiments to study cardio/pulmonary/kidney and immune-fibrotic traits, with the aim of deciphering the primary genetic factors and regulatory networks underlying cardio-metabolic diseases. The selected candidate will provide expertise in conducting research activities within the overall scope of the research project, including but not limited to the following:

• Maintain animal colonies, breeding, preparing animals for surgery or intravenous injection, obtaining samples and measurements, administering medicine and monitoring the animal’s environment (i.e. mice cages).
• Perform molecular and cellular biology experiments, including histology procedures, cell/tissue culture, PCR and western blotting.

Research Associate (Health economics and medical innovation)

Research Associate positions are available in the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, National University of Singapore, to support the Principal Investigator Assistant Professor Wang Yi in research projects in the areas of health economics, early health technology assessment and medical innovation development.

The research team works on the crossroads of health economics and medical innovation development. We work on diverse projects including theoretical framework development, method development, and empirical works in collaboration with clinicians, medical innovators, and decision makers.

The successful candidate will be expected to perform research administration, conduct research, communication with collaborators, disseminate research findings, and participation in capacity building through conducting workshops for local and regional participants. The projects assigned to the RAs will be aligned with their skillsets and career goals. The RAs will be involved in other projects as well for continuous learning and peer support.

The RAs will be presented with various opportunities to further develop their skills to ensure personal growth. We welcome academic creativity and will be highly supportive of candidates who wish to either pursue academia or desire for career progression. Requirements:

Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Assistant will be responsible for working closely with the Principal Investigator on quantitative finance and fintech research projects. In particular, the research assistant is going to develop Machine Learning/Reinforcement Learning methods and apply them in the field of quantitative finance and risk management.

• Data Management: Utilize proficiency in SQL, NoSQL, and vector databases to collect, clean, and manage data for research projects.
• Research Assistance: Collaborate on research initiatives focused on credit recovery efficiency, applying quantitative finance and econometric methodologies to analyze data and develop models.
• Machine Learning: Apply expertise in reinforcement learning and traditional machine learning algorithms to develop predictive models and optimization strategies for credit recovery processes.

Qualifications

• The candidate should have a Bachelor degree in Mathematics/Quantitative Finance or a related field. The candidate should have strong familiarities with quantitative finance problems such as portfolio optimization, credit rating, market making, and derivative pricing.
• The candidate should have expertise and research experiences in the areas of machine learning/reinforcement learning on quantitative finance problems. The candidate should have deep understandings of Markov Decision Process, Model-based and Model-free RL, Value/Policy Iterations, Q-learning, as well as designing and training of Neural Networks.
• Candidates who have experience with model uncertainty, model robustness, and inverse learning will be highly preferred.
• The candidate should have shown academic excellence and promising research potential. Strong publication record in internationally well-recognized journals is highly preferred. International scholarly visibility (e.g. conference presentations, academic visits) would also be favoured.
• The candidate should be an independent researcher as well as a good team player. The potential research projects might involve collaboration from various disciplines. Strong interpersonal, leadership, and project management skills are highly preferred.
